How much power do the catilitic converters rob?

How much power do the catilitic converters rob?
I live in Va. where they do not check for emissions. I was wondering how much power the catalytic converters rob. Is it worth taking them off or switching to highflow cats? Anybody do this, what was the difference in your e.t.? Thanks, Jeff

I have installed the bassani hi-flow cats on my L and picked up no gain in E.T. Just louder Also my cats are only a month old and already have blown the internals out in them!
It sounds like little metal ***** dancing around inside the converter.I am one of many
L`s this has happened to.

i took my cats off and lost on the low end at least half of a tength at the strip. others i have talked to, and most posters on all L boards report a loss in e/t with hi flow cats.strait pipes may have a lttle gain in e/t. if the L owners,who think they got gains in e/t from hi flows,shorty headers,and cat backs would go back to stock after they do all there modding,i am sure there would be none that would post a loss in e/t. most likley, they would gain. i will put long tube headers on in the future and sell my bassanis[cheap]and run no cats and my bassani cat back will go back on.if your looking for a cheaper way, take off just your stock mufflers and you will be loud and probably faster. take it from someone who is tired of wasting money.later

LOL sorry bout that, but its the price of pushing boundries on new equip isn't it??
Once i get my exhaust done i will send you some peices of hondas i have destroyed as a consolation prize
