why does ford continue to offer only 5,000 or so Ls every year? its cool that they want it to be a limited edition vehicle increasing its lore and value, but there is obviously a huge following now for them. they could easily sell 20,000 units i think. then it would be an even bigger aftermarket and so forth.....i know its only a small part of their huge line of F150s, but 5,000 aint enough, as i'm sure all who bought lightnings found out. the demand obviusly far exceeds the supply. how do you go about actually ordering one of these machines?

First, locate your SVT dealer, they will take your deposit Iam sure. Ford has only authorized certain dealers. I think they have to pay a fee to Ford also.

Well, first locate your nearest SVT dealer then go order one. However, if that dealer happens to fall somewhere in the Dallas area, dont forget to bring some KY jelly and knee pads.

Well they made 4000 in 99, 4750 in 2000, and i heard they are making 7500 in 2001, am not liking how ford increases their numbers everyear i want this truck to stay rare. And not see one in every corner.

 

the '00 model year was bumped up to 5,000 units, and as of now we are scheduled for 5,000 '01s. The first transmissions were run for '01 Lightnings yestersday.

 

The more Ford produces the less our are worth. The less made, the more...

 

Amen to that. I wish Ford had held the numbers to 4000 per year. Hell I wish Ford would stop making them, I like that the adverage gm boy doesn't know what the hell they are. I also like not seeing a Lightning at every stoplite. Let the whinning begin!
