tuning questions

Is tuning necessary top run a 2# lower pulley and a cai? I bought my truck used and I am not sure if it has a tune on it or if it is stock. I have a 2# pulley on it and want to run a cai also. Any input is appreciated.

You won't need a "tune" for a 2 lb pulley and CAI.

I ran a 2# and open cai for over a year on the stock tune...no problem! I have heard of guys that run a 4# without a tune and had no problems. The computer will compensate! However, you won't be maximizing the benefit of the added boost with the stock tune. But, it should be safe until you can get a chip or Hand held tuner.

I won't comment on thw safety of running a 2# without a tune.

However, a tune is much more than timing and a/f ratios. it will really wake up your truck!

Can it be done maybe BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO ???
There are A LOT of adjustments to be made and together they'll create a entire new driving experience for you

Thanks for the feedback. It is not that I don't want to program it I just can't swing the funds on a civil servants salary. If anyone has a used tuner to unload let me know prefer diablo but any upgradable unit that you have outgrown will do.

I run a 2# lower with an intake and exhaust, and it needed the tune, not so much when hot out but once it dipped down to the 60's and lower I was running mighty lean......I have since got it dyno tuned by JJ and it is running amazing

I have a dam near brand new Diablo ChipMaster Revolution "Chip"
It hold "2" tunes plus a 3rd postion shuts it off and goes back to the factory tune, (so Stock Tune + 2 Custom Tunes). I lost the switch but you can get them anywhere. I paid $375.00 but would sell it for $100.00
Of course you'd have to get tunes put on it, currenty it has my Procharged Stang Tunes on it
