Those with F1 hoods...
This is my very first message on the board...I've been checking things out for a while now, and learned many things....this site is so awesome for L owners. Just wondering.....those of you that have F1 type hoods from AAD, can you still use the Airaid filter set-up? I have that on my L and already have the hood ordered....I'm hoping that it will work, cause I'm happy with the filter set-up. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I actually saw the hood in an ad in the back of a Truckin magazine....then after I came on the board, I saw a few post with pics, and I decided that this was the hood I wanted for my L.....it was between this and the 3" cowl from Cervini's. American Auto Designs is actually not that far from where I live, so a couple of weeks ago, I took a drive there to see the quality of them. I was VERY impressed to say the least....I have had so many nightmares with hoods with my mustang I had before the L.....but this hood is top quality, the only thing that I am not that happy about, is that it is a little heavier than our stock aluminium hoods....but I'll deal with it....I love the way this hood looks on our trucks....
Anyway, didn't mean to get carried away.....you can check out the hood and prices at www.americanautodesigns.com
Good luck, if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help...

No the walls of the box and hood will not match up. The under side of the hood is smooth, but is "lower" in the front for the hood latch then after it is past the plastic peice on top, it raises up about 2 inches (raises at an angel) then goes to the back of the hoods like that. Be sides Take the walls off will inproves flow. Has been tested here recently.
Sorry dont have a pic on the under side of the hood.

Thanks for the info.....the hood will be here today, looking forward to getting it painted and put on. Can't say that I'm too happy about losing my Airaid. Should I just take the walls off of it as Lightning boy suggested, or go ahead and get a Pro-M ??
Any suggestions?

I would wait until the hood arrives and check it for fit. If it does require some modification, I would mark the area on the underside and take it to a good fiberglass man. Glass work is relatively inexpensive and the mod would keep the area in question from becoming a potential weak spot. I'm not sure that the AAD hood will require any work.
