Have you been to the mineral wells location? I have pretty much retired from parking-lot autocrosses (too hard on the tires for too little fun). But, if its a reasonably long course, I'm game.

Nathan,

This is a BIG parking lot
The picture is from Microsoft's terra server. Each of the squares in the photo is a helicopter tie down next to abandoned Air Base. There was room for 300 helicopters to tie down.

I agree that the small lots are a big tire waste and they dont take advantage of the power of the lIghtning and the weight is a bigger issue on the tighter tracks. I am at least going to show up to check it out. If we can get a couple of us to show we can at least have a good comparison among ourselves. Apples to apples.

Doug

Cool

Nathan,

The course is changed for every event, but usually pretty wide open compared to a parking lot event. This also should be more fun than the SCCA event in Houston last February at the blimp hanger. Lap times are usually over a minute. I attended two events last year with the Lone Star BMW Club (alias roll-over club) and they were fun. The invitation also is for any of the R/T guys that want to join us.

OMG, I want to Autocross TEXAS style...
Bigger in texas, I guess.

I've been on too many courses, where there is less than a 6" on either side of the truck.

Man o man, that must be nice.

I'm probably doing both, but the October one sounds much better due to the weather situation.

Well, I think I will try to make the September 24 event. The October weekend is the SVO reunion which I am going to try to attend.

Sixpipes-what are you doing for tires these days? I thought the F1's died at the SVT event!

Silver Bullet

Come on Down !!

Just now noticed the numbers at the top and right sides looks like the lot is a 1/4 mile by 1/3 mile. Even though Dennnis is correct they change the course every time, it would be fun to let the Lightning loose down the 1/3 mile straight in the picture above.

Flats Man -

The steel belts aren't showing yet so they will probably make it til October. I could always use the 17" wheels. Anyway, my truck seems to be faster since I took off the badges. I think Doug is going to be in trouble, but don't let him know. I want it to be a secret.

I am really enjoying how well you took your first defeat.

My new clear corners should be worth at least 2 10ths and one more for the upgraded velcro holding down my bedrug.

Now that I have made the required changes to my truck, all I need to do is learn to drive it better. The days of tromping the gas from the line are over, unfortunately. I was getting good reaction times but the wheel spin has become a problem.

Dennis since you have a movie camera we should consider painting a white stripe on our tires and taping the launch to see how much spin we are getting.
