Thumbs down Nitrous and Stock Plugs????

Running nitrous and stock plugs isn't a good idea. These only had 26 passes on them with anywhere from a 50 shot to a 100 shot. Only two passes with 100 shot most were on the 50 shot. If you are going to run nitrous or are running nitrous, CHANGE THEM NOW!!!!

D'oh! That's horrible, Andre. I'm just glad the engine isn't hurt. You did say Ford did a compression test, right?

You have just proven a critical tuning issue when playing with forced induction. I see this all the time with Mustang owners who bolt on blowers and don't use the right plug (colder is mandatory). Same thing obviously goes for a factory blown motor...I'd be willing to bet if people upped the boost too much (like to 14psi or so), they'd need the same thing: a colder plug, a correctly gapped plug, and new fuel/timing curves.

Does anyone know which NGK plug I should use if I plan on running a NOS dry system?

I can remember way back when I worked for NOS systems we would tell our customers never run platinum plugs. They cannot handle the extreme heat! Melted electrodes..hhmmm not good.
I would recommend a different plug..NGK?
DONT RUN A PLATINUM PLUG!!What do you guys run for a gap?

seb

BullgogSVT:
Replaced them with NGK TR6's.
WA 2 FST:
Did my own compression check, all were within 15 LBS of each other. Going to have Ford put it on the scope Monday and see if anything is in the memory. Truck runs like itself again and maybe a tad better with R9.
N20Boy:
I gapped them at .045, NGK says .054 but these plugs are not Lightning Specific, FORD calls for .045 and they came out of the box set at .043 + or-.
LTNBOLT:
I am with you, the ones I could see looked OK but going to scope all them next week.

Conclusion:
Don't I say DON'T run nitrous with the stock plugs, E's or M1's, they are both platinum. I can not tell you if the NGK's are the right choice either, but I am going to find out. Someone out ther with plug savy could tell us if they are colder or not.
