Finally sick of the lightning.

As some of you ol timers know.I am a svt freak. I had the first 99 lightning in my area and have not been without one since.Thats like 7 + years. (Matter of fact.I was racing the night i met Dons bolt .he was just a baby. He never raced before and was asking alot of questions about lightnings.......You see what happened to him.he got bit HARd by the racing bug).Usually i cannot keep a car 7 mos.I have ALWAYS kept them totally stock looking with minor mods like chip/pully/intake for that streetable 12 second truck.I have never really modded the outside with the exception of chrome plated stock wheels. Its all over.I am tired of having a stocker. After having the new shelby gt 500 which i have a severe itch to do elanor hood and some serious modds.I cannot get myself to do it cause of the high price i paid.Instead,.I am going ***** to the wall on my last Lightning. Its still got plenty of life in her only 17k miles but it was never a show truck even when i got it.Someone had their hands in it long before i got there..Its an 04 sonic blue and its gonna get biatch slapped right now.Im going shaker hood, 20s (aftermarket),lowering just a tad, custom hood and grille paint like some youve seen with the shaker hoods.Anything else i can due that looks well thought out and tastefull .I will not touch the performance mods because i am running 12.50s consistantley on street tires. I am totally happy with that except when i drive it after the shelby. My truck feels SLOoooooooooow Good enough for $700!!

And I thought this was going to be a "I'm sick of L and I'm selling it thread"
Glad to see it's not, HEY IF YOUR LOOKING FOR MY BLESSING TO MOD IT, hehehehe "YOU GOT IT MY BROTHER"

You know you mentioned something about not keeping former vehicles too long and man let me tell you I CAN RELATE. When I tell how I've owned 70
vehicles or so in my driving life "so far", BELIEVE ME IT'S NO LIE. And the only way I've done that is by (like you say) selling them usually every few months or so, I usually get sick of them very quickly.

Blacky (my 02L) was DEF the exception to the rule and the longest vehicle I've ever kept. I miss Blacky ( especially miss the fact it had @15K on it and was MINT), oh well live and learn ....
Kept that sucker 02,03,04,05,06 (sold it 6/6/6)

As you know shortly afterwards I bought a couple of new vehicles and put myself in another 6yr note I cant afford and neither of them were able to fill my "need for speed" I lost tons of money doing it (prob 30K) and ended up loosing more selling one of my new toys, and spend more replacing the L with another, (which is not anywhere in as good as shape). But I'm making up on it in POWER, this one is sooooooooo much faster
; o )

Sometimes it's the ole story, we dont appreciate what we have til it's gone,
I'M GLAD THIS ISNT ANOTHER "IT's GONE" post

BEST OF LUCK, AND CONGRATS ON THE NEW FOUND ENERGY TOWARDS THE L

I totally undertstand rob. I miss my 02 It was garage kept, absolute perfect condition.I washed it outside and undernieth every time i took it out on the dry summer roads. It litterally looked like it was never driven all the way up to the 11k mile marker when i sold it. Whoever got that truck got a good one.Anyway, I will look for a mint low low miler in a few years when i am ready to stop driving it.Hey i found a 93 with 2600 miles whiich i will never part with, ill find a 99-04.I know they are out there. It will be white!! Like my other 3.You know, i really regret not driving my other 3 more but i was stuck in the mindset that i was going to keep them forever. When i bought this 04, it was already modded before i ownded it,Its had a fender painted although a nice truck, not a collector one......I drive this MUCH more than i drove all 3 of my priors. This one is to drive and enjoy. When im finally done driving it,it will b sold and a non driver collector vehicle will be bought.Till then, im gonna have a blast. My favorite was definatley the 02 though.......

Talk about losing $$ on vehicles???? I am a car dealer by trade. We ARE NOT supposed top lose money but on my "personal vehicles" I lose $$ all the time.I bet ive blown through a couple hundered grand in "inequity situations" in th e last 12 yrs.At very least $100k.......Problem is im a car nut 1st and a business man second. It should be the other way around.

Sold my Lightning, a Red 99 which I had from new.

And guess what after three weeks of selling I order another, an 03 Red of course.

Now near on seven years down the line I will not part with her.
And am looking to add another one to keep her company.

Am I mad - YES
