California Speed Meet recommends purchasing a Motorola TalkAbout Model 250 for more fun. cost between $75-$90.

Because I want "more fun", I stopped buy Fry's Electronics and found them for $69.95. I bought the yellow one because, I really want to have more fun. My wife thinks I'm crazy.

I think she's a little jealous of my up and coming "fun"

Those of you who have opened the link know that Matt recommends taking a Motorola TalkAbout 250 along on the trip. After a little web searching I decided to get a TalkAbout 289 rechargeable. I bought it from this outfit http://www.motorolatalkabout.com/twoway.html They have the lowest prices I could find (only $69 for the 250) plus free shipping and no CA sales tax. Ordered it today.

 

Since the starting point is around the corner from my res....I'm off...WHY NOT?

We should find a place to stay and all spend the night.I really want to see if you guys really exist!

I wonder if I should invite my buddy with his Z06?

Tell me if you think the overnight thing is good and advise if anyone knows a good place that my wife won't complain about!!!!!!!!

 

I guess the whorehouse is out of the question then, for your overnight lodging...

 

To Alphadoggy & Matt -
Is the Motorola 250 just one dedicated frequency? Will the 289 be able to communicate with it?

Actually, we don't all exist. Yes, you've found me out. I have been posing as every identity on this board except 5 of 6 of them. I feel terrible. Hope you're not mad.

 

Kobiashi, click on the link I embedded, it has info on both units (and more). In short, both the 250 and the 289 have 14 channels covering the same spectrum, so yes, they can talk to eash other.

Just giving you an update.

o So far 6 Lightnings have signed up. 2 from NorCal, 4 from SoCal.
o Still checking into hotels
o Found a store online selling the radios for ~$69 shipped, no tax. The site AlphaDoggy is talking about only does free shipping on orders over $99.
