Question Anybody running the Baer EXtreme Plus system?

That's the 6 piston calipers with 14" rotors. What I want to know is:

1-How do you like the system

2-Will it fit the stock 18" wheels

3-Do you open track?

Thanks,
TB

TB to be honest the Bear 6s caliper is an inferior design to the Wilwoods' it does not even have removeable bridge bolts....yuck talk about a pain to change pads at the track.....my front and rears take about 15 minutes to change pads on all 4 corners....(if i practiced alot)

I hear you Pit. Just trying to find out what is available for our application with the intention assessing them to see which is best. If have heard good comments about TCE but nothing on the Baer kit from the Lightning guys. I'm sure someone is running it out there.

If quick pad changes are that important to you, you can get the 6R version:

instead of the 6S

I can't see any basis to call either of them "inferior," Ian. You may not like the feature set selected by Baer, but I've had them in my hands and the quality in design, engineering, and manufacturing is immediately apparent. The build quality is even better than my Brembos.

Price being equal, I'd take the Baers over Wilwoods. Nothing wrong with Wilwoods, and the cheap and available Wilwood parts are a huge advantage, but to my eyes, the Baer Monoblocks are in another league.

Tim,

Didnt see the 6r's they look very nice. I am sure they are a great caliper. they are in a different size class than the 6 pots I run up front as mine are intended for up to a 16"rotor 1.38" thick.

now these ARE racing components, with no intentions to run on the street whatsoever.....

these are not street parts based off of racing parts....they really cant be compared, when have you seen a 1.62" thick rotor on a yukon denali ?

Its great to see some supporters of TCE who has done a great job working with the Lightning community and I may decide to go that way.

But my question specifically relates to those who may be running the Baer Extreme Claw system

Thank you,
TB

Any chance of some details of part or kit numbers and a good vendor.

to my understanding (following threads here and on NLOC) SOME 19" wheels fit and most 20" fit but not the stock 18s. You would have to contact Todd@TCE for details.

I called Baer this morning and got my answers. Although they had listed this kit over a year ago, they just introduced it in November. The tech was very helpful. Here's the info. if anyone is interested. Caliper is made by Alcon from England and is in the same quality range as AP Racing also from England. They have just applied several upgrades to their 6 piston kit. The upgrades are from the 6R kit so both are the same except for the stainless pins. The tech did say that the 6S with the solid bridge is the stiffer caliper and pad changes are still very easy. The pins are for a racing class that require the drivers to run without these pins??? 14" rotors X 1.25" with a choice of 18mm pads. The kit lists at $3195 and jobber is $2500.

Not trying to promote it. Just sharing my information for comparison purposes.

TB
