Great Board: I'm looking at the possible purch of a 01 L. I bought the first 97 4x4 I could get my hands on back in 96. I miss the speed and am looking to make the jump back to some speed. I would like to here from you lads who drive this beast daily. I'm not looking to race (I would kill myself), but would love to make them little car drivers pull over in fear. I hear from many of the post that their were some problems with the 99 & 00 that ford isn't fixing(permanently). I would like to hear any advice that you think I should know before taking the dive.

Rags, I hear the 01s have been improved to include reducing some of the previous problems. Buy the 01. As far as racing, you can't help it. Some people just need to be spanked.

Do it, you'll love it. Intercooler problem should be fixed now, don't know about the others.

 

I've enjoyed my 2000 L more than any other vehicle I've owned. I haven't had any problems with mine other than the clunk, but I'm probably due for an intercooler leak, judging by all the guys who have had them. But you know what? I'll deal with it. The 2001 will most likely have a little something here and a little something there and you'll deal with it.

Buy the L, drive it, then tell me I'm wrong.

Well that is a tuff call. I have only had mine a week and a half and it has already had a ton of problems and needs to go back again. However...I'd still take a broken L over a flawless Honda ANY DAY!
