Injection is nice, but I'd rather be blown.

American Racing makes a 16 x 10 wheel that fits the Lightning. Also Weld makes a 17 inch wheel that will fit (expensive). I will post photos in a bit. I can offer a kit that will allow you to fit a 15 inch wheel to the Lightning. I don't think that most people really want to go to that trouble so I do not push it.
American Racing Wheel and MT ET DRAG.

Sorry no close up. This truck has Weld Racing Wheels and 17 inch B. F. Goodrich Drag Radials.

If you want to waste your money for strip wheels you can buy all that wide stuff but ford 16 x 7 spare tire rims at $40.00 each work fine. I run em every week and in the last four weeks, I have 3 first and one second place finish.

Hey Noel!
Lots of times things work. They don't have to be right they just work it is called the Chance Factor. If you are running a large MT ET street slick (16 x 10.5 x 26.2) on a 7 inch wide wheel you have taken that tire out of it design intent. I would hope that you are running a good racing inner tube and that the tire is at least screwed to the rim. That does provide some additional safty. As I tell people things do not have to be 100% to work sometimes we see single digit percentages working. I just don't like that kind of luck. I have always errored on the side of caution and would never recommend anything less to anyone else. Sometimes we never get the chance to say "if I only did it different".

Lightbulb

There are at least 3 of us running this combination (16x11.5R16). No tubes and no screws. My tire garus say tubes & screws are not necessary on the 16 X 7 rims (and so did Mickey Thompson).

Like I said it will work. For how long, who knows? I do know this much go racing at a major track (big event) and see if your competitors don't point you out to the Tech Official.

Hey Noel
Mickey is DEAD. He did not say squat. I know the the official position from MT is not what you state.

Maybe the guy that gave you the recommendation for this combination works for FIRESTONE.

Hey Noel not to flame you but your comments are well nuts! Your set up is cheap yes, and I consider what you did a complete waste of money. Looks nope, Traction yep, Cheap yep, Safe?? But if something does go wrong,, well you saved a couple of bucks, sacrificed style and who knows what else. For me its value and not just numeric value that eliminates waste. Hope I don't seem to harsh just don't like to see someone promoting something that could cause problems for others..
