Do you have a part number or model/series for your flowmasters? How did you deal with the exhaust tips. Were you able to keep the stockers?

Thanks

Jarmstro,
yup I picked my truck up last night from there. The funny thing is I forgot that when I took it in I had just gone to the track. So when I picked it up there on the back glass was partially faded track tech numbers oops.

Plus I left all my mods (chip/prom/exhaust) in place while it was there. If you need work done I highly recommend them. It did take over a month to get it fixed, but that was Ford's fault and not theres. Also, don't bs them. I think the reason they did not give me any trouble about my mods was that I was open and honest with what I had done as well as what was wrong. However, I think if I were spraying NOS and then suddenly developed piston slap or some other type of bottom end noise they might not be so helpful.

Unhappy

Well, all this talk I did about the BASSANI system, it turned around and bit me in the A S S. Today on the way home I heard a funny sound from under the beast. I stopped and did a quick check, it sounded as if it were coming from inside the oilpan. My first thought was a piece of piston skirt had broke off...

What I heard was alot of rattling. So, I was close enough to my dealer to drive it in to the shop at around 4:45(closing at 5). After a rather close inspection, we found out that the BASSANI Cats are breaking apart from the inside. That just goes to show us, stay with the stock setup. The Bassani are equipped with CATCO cats. They are guaranteed but I just dont have time to waste calling back and forth to resolve the matter..

I plan on removing the cats alltogether for a while. It will be loud, that's for sure

BADBOLT,
I dont have the exact part # for the FLOWMASTERS that I had originally. But I could tell you they were 2 chambers, and yes you could still use the original tips with the install. If you have a decent exhaust guy, this will not even be a challenge for him. They were not the Delta series, just the plain 2 chambers...Hope this helps

One of the 1999 Lightnings I check at waterford during the SVT exp. had the same problem. I think he is a member here and if I remember right his name is "Trible"?

Spiro, as you know, My Bassani Cats came apart on the inside. They tried to blame it on Chip. Then claimed they were dented. ..etc..I told them my engine would have melted down long before chip could do that to Cats.
Had to pay for new Cats, finally got credit after nearly 3mo.
If I had to do over I would not have even got replacement Cats from them.
On a bright note BABolts headers look awesome!!!!

Silver Bullet,
I might be wrong but I believe RobbG also had a Cat problem...yet at SVT exp. They told me I was the ONLY one to ever have a problem with these Cats.
Really sounds scary when they are completly apart on the inside. I'll be giving mine away this winter if anyone wants them.

Spiro, what does it sound like when your cats start comming apart? I do know that my driver side cat sounds like it has a leak but it does not, kind of like air blowing around in there and a slight ticking sound. I did have the heat shield around that same cat break loose at the weld about a week after the install. That was easy to fix with a little spot weld, but the sound of the cat does concern me. Please let me know whats up.

But as I stated before, the system DID make my truck faster. It feels faster and gave me better time slips, so what else can I say. Maby my truck just started to run better after I installed the system in spite of the install, not from it. Maby it just was a co-wink-e-dink. Maby I am the only one it helped, thats cool with me.

Jim,
I had a feeling this was happening when you first told me about yours.See ya' soon Bud

Silverbullet,
Your right, there were others that mentioned this a while back, not sure who.

Caka,
It sounds as if there are chunks of metal just dancing around in my Cats. We were having a hard time pinpointing, until we put it under load on the lift.My SVT mechanic wants me to remove them ASAP. He does not want all the excessive heat built up in the system.I have also been dealing with a miss at highway speeds, now we know why.
I'm glad that someone gained power from the Bassani install, God knows most of did not.Keep your ears open, It's very noticible especially under light load.

Maybe now I could run a little quicker that 12.75 LOL Who knows, I'm sure they were hurting performance. The test will be in NORWALK, I wont have time for the track until then

Spiro

Well, I finally had a chance to remove the cats today. The drivers side is in 3 pieces, passanger side was on the way out. I must say, the beast Is TOO LOUDnow with just the Bassani mufflers. I might try to find a set of cats locally to install before the long drive out to NORWALK. All that noise will drive me crazy

For gawd sake, dont buy Bassani! I have them on my L and they are so loud and mean sounding like something out of the muscle car era of the late sixties. I hate driving down the road, just to have everyone breaking their necks to see what just flew by them like a 747 on the runway. Oh well, life is short, enjoy it.yuk yuk
