Putting Shackles on with 58" Bars already installed

Put them on my 99 the other day and had to question "if" I'll get the true drop because my 58" bars are already installed.
On the 02 the Shackles went on "before" the bars, on the 99 the bars are of course already on.

I think it dropped just enough to even it off (which is what I'm after)
and I'm happy with it
but when I look at former pic's I have to question how much it did drop,
or did it drop ?

Thoughts, opinions ???

BEFORE

AFTER

BEFORE

AFTER

Looking at the first two it doesnt seem differant, BUT
Looking at the last two I guess it did DEF go down a wittle, woo hoo!!!

Why not unbolt the front brackets (Leaving the bars attached) and see if the bracket ''settles" in a different spot?

**Just think of the possibilities of more pics**

Rob,

if you are running the rancho style bars, loosen up the u bolts that hold the bracket to the axle. Jack the frame of the truck up in the air till the rear end hangs and the tires are just off the ground. Then drop it down. Get up in the bed and jump up and down. Then tighten up the clamps.

One thing i found is this.......

Before I go to the track, i do the same things as above, exept i leave the clamps tight. The rear suspension seems to bing a bit and the travel will be shortened over time.

I've done this time and time again and the travel is more than noticable at the track and the 60's reflected it.

I would strongly suggest you do this. As it stands now you probably have the bars "loaded". I'll bet if you were to try and remove the bolts on the front brackets you would not even be able to get them out without the aid of a hammer or jacking up the rear. I would take them loose and redrill/remount.

i agree with jacking it up and loosen the u-bolts. doing the front will do nothing except waste time. once you do your gorilla impression in the bed the truck will naturally settle into it's new height. the pics you have posted only look like maybe an inch if that. looks good none the less

Thanks Tallimeca and the L's looking niiiiiiiiiiice
Thanks everyone, great advice and idea's and exactly what I unforutnately assumed ....

Of course I SHOULD HAVE done it while it was up on the lift and via V's air tools @#$%(@&$%@#$ Unfortunately I went there for a specific reason (the undercoating) and the shackles were a last sec idea of mine so after we did throw them in I think we both looked at each other and said hmm I bet the bars .......

I also agree they're prob preloaded (which may not be such a bad thing), but I did bars once on my rock driveway and dam near took an eye out (some may remember ) so untill I get back to V's I guess it stays as is.....
ALTHOUGH tallimeca's idea is something I may be able to sneak in over at M+P's

WOO HOO!!! did someone say more pic's, yip yip yippy yia.....
(WOW that would call for more wouldnt it, hehehee)

Gator I thought of that but I dont think it'll work, I found out on the 02 install there is ONLY ONE WAY you can put the front bracket on. I think tallimeca has the fix, (Thumbs Up).....

The directions tell you to use the (1) factory hole and drill the rest, belive me you have to wrestle to even get it in that one hole. As seen in this (YEP GATOR PICTURE, WOO HOO). If you put that one bolt in and tighten it,
there is only one possible place you can drill the others....

But as tallimeca said, the rear can be loosened and you can MOLEST IT ; o )

Not sure what directions you are going by, but mine didn't say a thing about using a pre-drilled hole.
BTW........that pic is NOT mine or my truck.
My brackets face forward & I drilled all 4 holes in the frame to mount the front bracket.
A 1.41 60' time tells me mine are okay, what cha think?
