Question Is 15.9 a bad time for the 1/4???

I talked to a guy who said he saw a stock 2000 Lightning run at Bandimere speedway (about 5000 feet) and he said that it ran a 15.9. That seems awfully high, I know altitude affects it but come on.

I haven't a clue how much altitude affects et's but maybe he lost boost. There is a guy around me who has lost boost a couple times and ran in the 16's.

15.9 isn't bad if you're towing a boat! He should run under 15 seconds stock, & under 14 seconds with a chip & filter. I lost boost for 2nd & third & ran a 15.0 & no boost for the whole run = 16.37 oops. Lloyd

I'm sorry...I have to jump in here.

At over 5000' above sea level stock Vipers will run mid, high-13s. At least that's what I've heard from people who race at Bandimere.

Many stock 4.6/5.0 Mustangs which will run low-14s in "normal" conditions will turn high-15s, low-16s up there.

You have to compare apples to apples. 5000' above sea level makes it hard to get a good comparison.

I'm not saying it isn't _possible_ he lost boost during the run, but at that elevation, I wouldn't assume that was the case.

Thumbs up

I remember CA complaining about how she was running 15.1s (along with the LS1s) at Bandomere (sp?) in May. She was stock at the time, so a 15.9 is understandable at those altitudes. At least I think that's what she was running. CA?

I'll pop in my 2 cents.

The air at Bandimere is *very* thin. In addition, it's been pretty hot (until this last week). CA ran a few weeks ago and her quickest time was 14.8 with chip and filter, so 15.9 seems a little high, but within reason.

I'm from the SF bay area and compared to there, the air here is cr@p. If you talk to anyone that has run their truck at both high and low altitude they will tell you that you will be very surprised by the difference.

As Wheels said above,CA ran 14.8 up there with the chip and filter. Compare that with the 13.43@102.7 she ran at the WFC at a MUCH lower altitude track in St Louis. Amazing difference!

Okay,
I want to move to sea-level. I bought my L in Indiana and it ran much better their even though it only had 500 miles on it. Now it has 4000 and I am still waiting for the motor to loosen up. I guess I need a chip/filter.
