Strangest Sound Ever (Help Me!)

This wouldnt be so fustrating if I knew what the problem was but I have no idea what is going on with my truck so I am about to go crazy.

The back story:

Driving home (north) on the I-5 about 3 miles from my exit the sound started. I had already been on the highway for about 30 minutes. It sounded like something (a rock or whatever) hitting the top of roof over and over again. Like it was tied to a string. I exit and check out the truck. Everything is fine. I take surface roads home and hear the sound two more times but not as extreme.

The problem:

The sound wont go away even though he truck looks the same as the day I bought it (everywhere. I have checked everywhere). I am sure it is a problem with the roof because a) it sounds like its coming from above, as confirmed by a passenger and b) when I hear the sound I can put my hand on the roof of the cab and feel it vibrating. The sound is hard to duplicate. It is consitantly inconsitant. It seems to show up the most at high speeds (althought not all the time). It will also make a showing when turning and breaking but not as loud as when accelteraing. It is so loud I can hear it over my music with the windows both up.

I know this is realy vauge but it is late, Ive had a few drinks, Im tired and very fustrated so if you have any ideas let me know. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks.

Check the rubber moulding across the top of the windshield. I had a similar noise which drove me crazy for a long time because the moulding would return to its' normal position when I wasn't moving.

Let me quote my post from 2002

"IT'S ABSOLUTLY NOT COMING FROM THE MOTOR,” it seems to be coming from the Roof, "YES THE ROOF" the only way I can explain it is, Hmmmm, Is it sounds like someone is dancing on my roof with spikes on, Ya that’s it ???? I stopped off the side of the parkway, checked everything, and went back on my way, as soon as you get it over say 40-50 the noise comes back, loud as Schit too. If you put your hand up against the headliner you can feel the frigging roof going nuts. ANY ONE HAVE A CLUE ?????
I've heard of lot's of L noises but THE ROOF ????

PS
On the way out I was cruising over 100 and had no noise's

If your noise stopped, it probably came off. Go look at your truck, I bet you anything you are missing that piece now.

I'll go glue it now, Good thing there was traffic on the ride back or I would have lost it for sure. And the SOB does lay back down flat like it never moved.

It's your rubber.

This happened to me one day when I was just past the 130 mark and it scared the hell out of me . Stopped the truck and didn't see anything. Did this about 3x's before I figured out it was the gasket around the windshield, specifically at the top and on the passenger side. Good luck.

Thanks for the help, It was driving me crazy. I was so embarresed by it I wouldn't even give people a ride in my truck.

Hehehehehe Charlie is that not the strangest noise in the world. We've all blown things up, but when noise's starts coming from the roof and it sounds like a couple of midget's up there having wild monkey sex now thats something your just not ready for

I would pull over climb up there and see nothing, then drive and hear the noise again. Then I would pull over again and climb up there and see nothing, then drive and hear the noise again. Then I would ..... you get the picture...
And I'll be dipped in schitt if that sob gasket didnt sit right back down and look normal everytime I pulled over and looked for something

I believe I used good old fashion
