Lightbulb Idea for a nitrous port

Hello all. I was just looking through the newest issue of Ford Performance Trucks. I was reading the article "Lightning Strikes Twice" and I got an idea for a slick spot for a nitrous port. If you refer to your issue you can see that the folks at KB tapped into the blower manifold for boost and inlet charge temperature. It's on page 77. It seems to me like that would be a good place to drill and tap for a nitrous nozzle. This location would keep the nitrous/fuel mixture from having to go through the blower, but it would still have to go through the intercooler. I know there really isn't any benefit in using this location for nitrous, but it would be a nice spot if someone was trying to hide their nitrous lines...

That could be. It didn't specify whether or not it was the stock manifold of the one that comes with the 2.6...

With your setup and a single point n20 system the best nozzle position would be in the jlp s/m plenum N20 boss tilted slightly forward. In that position I would spray it with a 125 shot MAX reason being uneven distribution especially on #4 and 8 cylinders. But, to answer your question more direct that would not be a good spot for N20 because there i a 2.5 to 3 inch taper from i/c to back of midplate, you would actually be spraying onto the aluminum midplate taper "not good'.

That would be a great idea for a few fogger nozzles to sit back there. Not as efficient as a direct port but it would be in a better location there than on the plenum and it would definately be undetectable.

Sounded like a good location but with the intercooler obstruction distribution would be a problem ,it wouldnt work. Its like trying to build a better mousetrap. Racetested makes a kit, dont know if its out yet, but its supposed to be a pretty well hidden direct port made for the Whipples.

best spot.......

is direct cylinder injection.

Any of you who have seen the way these modular motors intake manifold works with the supercharger application.........know it's tricky.

I think that on these trucks, the small nitrous shots do more of cooling the intake tract then juicing the combustion in the cylinders.

Isn't JLP running direct cylinder injection?

I can't possibly see how any small shot of nitrous can be properly atomized and distributed between cylinders when it has to go through all these twists and turns, blower rotors, intercooler, and up through the intake runners.

But then again, what the hell do i know.......haha.

Thread poster was asking about a single point. Of course Direct port is the BEST spot. Single point does little cooling effect, it does make big torque with pretty close to equal hp jet rating up to about 100 shot, after that distribution becomes the issue. But what do I know about single point my kits directport.

I believe JLP is Direct Port, not Direct Cylinder

That kit has not been installed on his truck yet. It has been plumbed on an extra intake, he has. He's rebuilding motor this week. Should be on soon. Will debut it for Bradenton FFW come March.
