First Time Drag Racing
Never raced the Lightning yet (it's a 2000) - just looking for some tips - I have a 12 second Mustang that I race... so I have the track basics... just wondered about....
#1 - do I let the tranny shift itself - or is there a better shift point than the factory?
#2 - Can I cool the intercooler or air intake with bags of ice?
#3 - any other drag race tricks good for some better ET's?

I have entered the world of drag racing with a 2000 Lightning. Lots of fun.
1) A bit of a debate as to whether or not to run with O/D on or off. I turn O/D off. Let the tranny shift itself.
2) Use ice on the intake. 1/2 hour gets it nice and cold.
3) Rear tire pressure at 24-25 psi. Unchipped, launch at about 1500 rpm. Your track will let you know what it can hold. Quick spin outside of water box to clean tires. I find a solid spin gets the best traction. And before entering the lights, shift into neutral and give a quick couple of revs to get the tranny fluid moving. If you spin too hard on your burnout, the tranny can tell the PCM to shut down boost.
