Fastest BONE STOCK L I've seen is the "Fridge" project in the August 2000 Fast Fords & Muscle Mustangs. It ran a 13.376 @ 102.09 and a 13.379 @ 101.93. Add a chip, filter, racing fuel, mass air, and slicks and your looking at easy 12s.

If I remember correctly, HighRisk ran a 11.9?
with NOS. I know you asked without but I think that is such a great time that it deserves acknowledgment

Andy, come to Norwalk on Friday.
We are having a North-east/Mid-West lightning get-together there this weekend (Summit TruckFest), but Friday is regular test and tune, with what looks to be good weather, it should be fun.

I believe Fourcam is checking on the Lightning vs Cobra in the quest for Ford's quickest vehicle. Someone made a comment over on LS1.com about an L holding a Cobra off until 110mph or so and he took offense to it. He has a nice car, though. I believe its a Cobra running 12.49, correct? Welcome to the board and enjoy!

Cool

Stock for stock, IMHO, it'd be driver skill to 140mph. Certainly in a 1/4 mile race, the L would jump the Cobra to the 1/8mile, then the Cobra would be creeping up from there on out.

I have a few mods to both my L and my '96 Cobra (not counting the small shot of nitrous on the Cobra). The L has a chip, a shift kit, and a inlet tube/filter kit. The Cobra has gears, pulleys, MAF. The Cobra has run a best of 13.35/105.2mph on _real_ radials (not drag radials) in N/A form, and the L 13.20/103.37mph. I'd say that's darn close. These runs were not made on the same day, but the conditions were similar. I have enough racing experience to know.

But, stock for stock, I maintain that it'd be very, very close in a side-by-side. Once you get to a certain speed, though, the Cobra will overtake the L. What speed that is exactly, I couldn't tell you.

Steven, good to hear from you. Thanks for the invite, however I'll be moving into a new apt. at school:P Moving really really sucks
Ron and I will be going at it tentatively on the 3rd Friday in October; I say tentatively because we might just rent the track out on a saturday if possible. There are now 8 other grudge matches scheduled including "Beefcake vs. JamesHensler vs. ModCobra" should be fun

Duck,
LOL, I'm not here to start a flame war or argue who's fastest (I'll leave that for the LS1.com kill board ). I just wanted to know what the fastest modded non NOS L's were running these days--we don't see a whole lot of them at Norwalk or Trails.
Maybe we could get one of them to come to smackdown to run Silver?

There she is Was wondering when you were gonna chime in. Jeff, are you sure you can't make the Smackdown II? We're looking into renting Norwalk on a Saturday, and you know, we also have some houses for sale out here
So what I'm saying is: I have the stock 245/45/17 Comp T/As on the Cobra now and would love to run you at Smackdown II stock tire vs. stock tire--but you've got to bring the cobra too!
FWIW, my best stock tired time was last year with an off-road H, Puffin Box, UPR pipe, and 4.10s (13.29@106.89 on a 2.1 60').

Welcome to the board Fourcam! Since you saw me (Russ, w/ laser red 98 Cobra) last year at Norwalk I added a black 99 Lightning to the colection. Let me know when you are going to rent the track. I'd love to see Beefcakes car run.

It was I that said I could hold off a Ford Cobra to 115. If you have seen this video, then you would know why.

Here's a picture of us at 95mph. Note that the picture was taken from my cab.

Don't worry, Fourcam. I didn't think you were here for a flame war. We all know that stuff is fine for LS1.com, and that we are a gentler, more tame crowd over here. It's good to have you aboard. BTW, I pity you in the whole moving thing. I'm on year number four and apartment number three. Moving around in college sucks. The best advice I can give you is to make sure the BOTTOM of the box is taped, too. LOL!

12.75 and going quicker......give me North East fall air and possibly in the 12.50's LOL

But seriously,It seems as if I lost some low-end without the cats. But it feels like I gained up high. Ordered a new set of cats, hoping to have installed by Thursday before the trip to NORWALK.

Wes,
Thanks for the mention. I actually run MICKEY THOMPSON Drag ET`s, although they really dont hook any better that the Street ET's.Best 60' below. Sal,I believe had a 1.83

Im hoping for great air this weekend, I wanna see HIGHRISK pull some air under those front wheels

Russ, LOL, I'm gonna have to come over and check your garage out sometime Where exactly in Cleveland are you? My home is in Amherst.
Tundra, no hard feelings. I couldn't get the link to the video to work though.
Duck, moving just sucks. I'm on my 3rd apt. as well; though my 5th year 15 hours per week in class, and 15 hours per week at the bars will do that
Spiro,
Those are some very impressive numbers. With a better launch that's an easy 12.50. If you can believe it, Jerry Green cut a 1.67 60' on the stock Goodyears at this years Norwalk FFW against me in the first round of mod qualifying! I have the timeslip to back it up; he went 12.97@102.8mph.
