New KB 2.6H

I guess this new designed 2.6H has a different or smaller port on the discharge which allows to make boost instantaneously and remain more efficient, with even lower IAT temps, at the 15# and up boost levels. I'm interested in seeing how this design compares to the regular KB 2.6 and the Whipple. Let the blower Wars begin.

IMO, KB made a mistake and has a few guys pretty po'ed. Not sure but it seems as tho they let the cat out of the bag a little too soon. I wonder if they will continue makeing the original or will it be the H only when the original are sold out?? Either way, I'm hanging with the 2.3 until either the 2.6 gets another revision or whipple answers. In fact I still am not convinced the 2.6 is as good as the current whipple. Lately JDM has more than a couple low 10 second Ls running a number then backing it up 20 minutes later. JJ took Thunderstruck to 10.3 at 131 I think it was, on the same day a 2.6 JL truck ran a 10.55. I understan the JL truck was a little heavier tho. But, dont think for a minute that the 2.6 truck was held back for any reason. Dyno numbers are cute and all but real world results is the law in my book. One example that comes to mind is woodys2000 he runs the JDM cams and when the motor fired they didnt have the big lope and his dyno numbers in his words were a little disappointing. But, when he run it at the track he ran a new best at a big mph like 128 or 9. Then you get guys who say my truck dynoed at 613 or 640 and they go out and run a mid 11 at 116 to 118 go figure. It looks to me like JDM is on to something with the cams, I think you might agree promod, as far as blowers the whipple is looking better and better especially north of 18 #s. They say a hint to the wise is sufficient goodluck in your choice of whipples "cough" I meen blowers.

If you factor in weight, JL gave up 300lbs. Thats roughly 3 tenths which would put him @ 10.25 corrected. I believe that 2.6 has more in it if given time. Question is, does that Whipple have any more left or how much more blower could a 5.4 utilize? Ultimately, I'd like to see someone click off a 9 sec boost only pass.

Not sure if it will be done on a full weight truck. Seems like traction is an issue for all stock suspension trucks at these types of power levels.
The progressive nitrous trucks seem to be able to launch, yet still put down the big #s.
I am awaiting the Whipple 3.3 before upgrading my "baby" MP blower. I have been steadily improving my times (6 out of 10 track days yielded new bests). I expect to run out of blower at about the 10.7-10.8 range. Nitrous goes on this winter to experience the thrill of low 10s.

Do you think the 3.3 whipple will ever be released or is it just rumor?

The 3.3 exists, just not in any kind of kit form. It's mainly for carbed monster motor (500+ci) race boat engines, and similar setups. There will most likely never be a 3.3 Whipple "kit" for a Lightning. Hell, that unit would barely fit under the hood of a Lightning and clear everything. To make it worse, it's got a top inlet carb pad mounting case. So in addition to being physically taller (and wider, and longer), you'd need a top inlet manifold.

That doesn't mean it won't work, anything can be made to fit. But it's going to require quite a bit of modification to the truck .

Whipple has repeatedly been in posts on SVTPERFORMANCE and MODULARFORDS stating they are indeed going to offer a package for the Lightning. I sure hope it is true.

I'll settle for a wittle KB or Whipple if the price is right. What are we going to try to do next, blow the heads right off the Motor and threw the Hood

Pete, JL comes to Florida in March for racing, maybe we can meet up with him then to do the dyno? Tell Ron I still have the covers. Fred

We are trying to be ready before JL comes down with a few shake down runs in before FFW in Bradenton. Still got the covers huh? Great I'm pulling my current motor next week. Tom should be finished with my new shortblock sometime shortly after Thanksgiving. If possible I'd like to get up with you soon. Ron@garabar.com Thanks Fred.

A 3.3-a boat supercharger? You'll won't be able to spin it less than 18 psi.

I want to run fast. 18#s is childs play. I currently run my MP at more than 4 times crank speed. This yields about 23#s boost.
It is only a boat supercharger if mounted on a boat. Whipple will be bringing a race kit out soon for the 5.4 2V.
