Need Help Looking For a Thread
I have used the "search" and the FAQ's with no luck.
I'm looking for the thread that had pictures and discussed the 4 and 5 point seat belts on the L.
Anyone know where it was???

Hey Jim, I could'nt find anything either, are you sure you saw it on the Lightning section?
On a side note, I e-mailed you back again this morning about the change of matts to valour, your assumption was correct, order the same matts for me that you are getting. The check is in the mailbox as we speak. Jeff Walker

It would appear that 5 point belts would be difficult if not impossible to install and maybe of little use unless you install a roll cage first.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

I was just going to post this myself...I was looking and hoping that someone may have had something successful now, as the regular seatbelts don't hold us in place to well, especially aroudn a quick curve... I had started looking at some Simpson stuff, but didn't know if anyone had done it yet.
I thought I remember seeing the belt/cage pictures posted here from one of our fellow Texan Lightning owners. Could be wrong. It would be a nice addition to our trucks, but you would have to install a hoop or cage behind the seats to attach the belts to.
bulldog from the NLOC e-mailed me a great shot of Simpsons installed on his L. Looked good. I don't have the capability to post the picture. If you are interested, e-mail me a note and I will send you the picture.
After I had asked the question, "are they illegal," I received a note from a fellow L owner who is also a policeman and he said:

If you alter the mounting points or reduce the retention capability, they are. I would love to take someone to court who cited some one for improving their restraint systems

Jim, email me the pictures - araja@megapathdsl.net - I will post them.
Also, you need to be very careful installing/mounting harnesses... there are very specific requirements... i.e. mount point X" above shoulder, y" behind shoulers, etc. to mount them safely. I'll try to find a good reference and post it
Also 5 point are safer than 4 point, as 4 point will "ride up" in an accident.
The stock seat belts do cinch up nicely... i.e. move seat back, pull firmly on seat belt to remove slack, snap seat belt quickly and it'll lock, move sear forward for further tightening... this works for me even in a road race environment!
