In the FAQ it says our Lightnings have Mercon V fluid....The owners guide says ...NOT!!!!
4R100..Mercon
4R70W...Mercon V
My ?...Which one?

The FAQ or the owners guide?

Interesting that you noticed that. I was just checking out the FAQ yesterday and also noticed about the Mercon thing. The person who wrote that was saying how all of the fluids in our Lightnings were synthetic from the factory except for motor oil. They really need to check their facts. The only fluid that is synthetic in the Lightning from the factory is the rear end lube. You are correct that the owner's manual (and the dipstick even) clearly states that we are to use Mercon in our 4R100 trannys. Someone needs to check the facts before they get posted in the FAC to keep someone from putting the wrong kind of fluid in their tranny.

I have changed my fluid 3 times now, I have been using Halvoline MERCON DEXRON...hope this helps

See what it says on your dip stick. That will tell you if it's Mercon or Mercon V. These fluids are not interchangeable.
