Question on Predator Tuner

My 2003 L is stock except for a cat-back and K&N filter. Not really planning to re-pully it right now but I'm considering getting a Predator and tune for a stock motor. Assuming the stock Predator tune is still as risky as it was initially, where is the best place to get a good, but safe, stock tune up program that will add a few HP? Also, what are they usually charging for it?

Forget the Predator. Call Troyer and get an Xcal2 with custom tunes made just for your truck.

I see them for $399 everywhere - be careful of the e-bay units. If they have been used, they are "married" to the original truck they were used on. If the owner didn't restore the stock tune from the Predator before they offer it for sale, it will be useless to the new owner.

RPMOutlet has it for $369.99 with free Next Day Air shipping, but you will have to pay for a tune from someone so...

Buy it from one of the supporting vendors of this site. All of them can tune the truck for you and I think at least 1 of them include 1 tune when you buy it from them.

Is Troyer a tuner like the Diablo Predator or a chip system? Not sure I've heard of them.

Troyer is a supporting vendor and he handles the SCT XCAL2 Products, IMO a superior product to the predator. Give them a call.

Good points. I'll stay away from Ebay units.

Thanks

I got a brand new Predator for around $325 form Mark at LFP and it gave me some more power with my stock 03' L. I feel they aren't a bad deal for the price, and they are real easy to use. MAT2CH..............

I've got a Diablo and it has been great so far, but I've not experienced an ExCal2. I'm planning on getting one to replace it because of the multiple tunes.

Brenspeed is listing the ExCal2 for $379.00 which appears competitive with the Predator pricewise. Anyone have any experience with their tunes?
