i called spearco yesterday and they told me that i needed your name to know what they had built for the gen. 2 L. they told me that they have built so many for people they wouldn't know which one was L specific. can you help me out or maybe call them and let them know what they are building for you so that i can talk to them about it. i would appreciate your time.

 

I have not received the water to air yet from Spearco. I originally supplied cardboard mockup so I will go see him this week. I will supply the original to him once I get the truck back! I would wait until I give him the actual unit to copy. He has shown me a standard core that will fit nicely but we need to make sure it's perfect if he intends to build more then one off for my truck. If not we can have him build it from the mockup but I would advise to wait to ensure perfect unit.These people build nice stuff so it will happen it just depends on your schedule. He is also building an air to air for me to place in front of the radiator for added cooling for higher boost levels. I will take pictures once it is done for all to see for both units. Spearco is only a few miles from my work so I can stop buy as needed. P.S if anyone has a unit available send it to SPEARCO asap and I will follow thru on getting it built correctly due to my location.

I may be able to supply Spearco with an intercooler (the actual unit that resides in the lower intake manifold) but I would need it back when they are done. Could they provide flow numbers through the unit and guarantee that there would not be a leakage issue with the new unit. Without this it would be better to wait for the 2001 intercooler and manifolds. What I would like to see is AN fittings on this intercooler and also on the heat exchanger.
PS. I can also provide the two lower manifold too so that a true quality part can be built. Let me know.

GREAT, yes SPEARCO can provide flow numbers and pressure drop thru the unit. Due to my business I can also help in this area. We design environmental control systems for aircraft and use heat exchangers all of the time. We can even instrument in truck with data acquisition equipment that we use for aircraft. I plan on doing this with my new motor to determine temperature drop across the cooler etc. We can discuss how to best build the unit with regards to fittings etc. I don't know where the stock units are failing so if you can explain we can all decide on best approach. I also have access to engineer friend who designs heat exchangers for CESSNA who could lend a hand. Spearco cores are very high quality and I would suspect that the leaks usually ocurr at the end tanks and fittings. Tube&fin failures are pretty rare in my business but the truck may be a different ball game. The more parts the better to build correctly.
