What is the Tank under the Lightning bed near the spare tire for? I cannot figure it out! It looks like some kind of a compressor.

Could it be the fuel pump/filter? I've got something similar under my car, and that's what someone told me....

What you are seeing is a part of the evaporative emissions system. It is the carbon canister that collects excess fuel vapors to prevent HC discharge.
