Post Chip recommendations

I am new to the list, and a first time Ford truck owner..

Well I researched the chips available for the 2k's.
I decided on the PSP chip.
Well I get all ready to buy, I send an email last Thursday and still haven't heard squat.
If this is any indication how the customer service will be I don't think I want any part of it.
Is the place still in business??
What are your opinions on the other chips??
Who has the best chip out there?

Thanks in advance for your help..

Randy

That is exactly why I purchase my chips from others. No matter what I tried, I could never get PSP.

Call Superchips or Danny Swanson both are great with customer service. It may take Danny a little bit longer to get back to you, he is setting up his new shop.

I am curious about real world experiences with the parts.. Not much of that info oin the FAQ's.
I looked over that before I posted.

I just want to buy the right part the first time..

If you had to buy a chip right now, what would it be????

RIGHT NOW, SUPERCHIPS!
SERVICE IS NUMBER ONE!

IF YOU CAN WAIT, PSP IS WORTH IT!

WHY NOT DO BOTH?

Superchips and customer service go hand in hand. And it wouldn't surprise me, if Mike pops up. That man is always on the ball.

Mike Troyer and the Superchip are super. The factory will not answer my repeated attempts at getting a live body to call me. The factory gives me flashbacks of my attempts to contact PSP, which I gave up on and went with a Superchip. If there is a better chip than the Superchip R9, you would have to demo that to me on the drag strip. It would be easy to find a better company when it comes to response to the customer. My first message was left over a week ago. Another a half a week ago. They couldn't give a crap less.

this has went on for some time, but i believe this is the chip to be using. i don't have it myself(yet) but silverbullet and BaBolt do. this is one of there #'s. i think that the anme of the business has changed but the product remains the same. https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/004709.html ask for one of those two or maybe some one else knows the new name.

One other chip you might want to check into is SHM's chip. They're quick to answer any tech questions by email or on the phone, usually Sean himself will answer the Lightning questions.
I haven't checked with any of the other chip dealers, so can't really give a non-biased opinion on how their chips perform on the L, but I know know how my chip performs and am very impressed.
SHM's not a standard R&D shop IMO, especially in the Lightning. Most of them once they've perfected a product, that's it, they stop right there. They started with the '99 L, tested it to the limits, then got a '00 L and are still developing a large line of products.
They're SVT specialists basically, right down to designing, prototyping and manufacturing there own headers, exhaust, pulleys, chips, MAF, and many other products that no other company cared to take the time/money to invest for the L (remember, I'm refering to R&D shops, not part-specific shops like Superchips or J&B).
They've gained my trust and loyalty just like PSP gained most of the loyalty on this board, and I would recommend SHM to anyone.

Cheers

To quote our FAQ's

Saying which chip is best is like saying which is better Ford, Chevrolet or Dodge. They are in most part all good. It all depends on which chip manufacturer one likes the best. In fact, there is a term used in the heat of battle when discussing chips and that is "Chip Wars." Manufacturers, and owners all get in it. That is why there are only a few links to add to this FAQ. Because many, many of the links deal with "Chip Wars" with little substance.

Fordsales:
I would have agreed with that statement until I saw the incredible difference between my six month old Superchip and the new R9 program. The new chip makes the L a totally different truck. I cannot help but think, that there must be some major differences between different manufacturer's chips, if there is such a difference between chips coming from the same place for the same truck.

Chip wars, for sure. People forget that some trucks are faster than others, usually because of the way they are broken in and sometimes luck. I would put my truck against any other L that is equiped the same and I think mine would win. Differences are as much as .15 comp. equiped. I think service is important and that should be a major consideration as I think both superchip and PSP are pretty well refined.

I agree and just like any good chip maufacturer should do: I sent mine back in and got a free update (there was a cost to update my gear change)

One of the big difference between some chip makers and Superchip is that Super is always trying to do better and get more performance.
I'm glad that there is a difference between the old and the new. This means that things aren't stagnate.

Opps, looks like a "Chip War" is starting.
