Camshaft swap, anyone?
That's what I am trying to find out. I would think somebody must make them. I know Isky will regrind any cam, but what problems would we face? maybe the 4.6 Mustang parts would interchange. Lloyd
Tommy Vaughn Ford shows a Lightning cam in there add.

I don't know of anyone that makes cams for the the 4.6 / 5.4 combination. Also have not found any cam blanks available. The Lightning cams are the same as the Mustang GT. I only know of one set of Hi-Po cams for the 4.6 /5.4 combination and I don't know how they will work with the auto trans. I will know how they work with a supercharger in a few weeks.

Sean Hyland Motorsport makes cams for the 4.6 mustangs 4v & 2v. They are not reground. They are billet cams. They can also do custom grinds.

mike are you supercharging your red car? 4rts2nv, thanks for letting the cat out of the bag, have you tried these cams yet? are they solid or hollow? just wondering because i believe the stock cams are hollow and was thinking about the weight difference on the drive assembly.

Ward, Yes I am.
4rts2nv and mb92gt---
I knew about SHM but they are expensive and I hear to many people complaining about them. So for me I choose to stay away. Plus billet is heavy and I don't want that type of rotational mass. I spoke with Steve at Houston Perf. and I was aware the he was doing regrinds. If he is now doing cams with custom grinds on new hollow cores that would be cool. I had also spoken with Crane and they said they were not interested.

Nytling92, No I haven't Changed cams yet! Mike is right about Sean Hyland being very expensive. But there the only people offering custom grinds right now. The stock cams are hollow with pressed on lobes. The problem with regrinding is that you are very limited on much you can change the profile. I plan on looking into regrinding a little more. And find out exactly what the limits are. Then I'm going to make a decision about getting the cams from SHM or having a set reground.
Yes HP is doing regrinds, but they can do custom grinds on billet cores. However, last time I spoke to Steve he said the cost was still Prohibitive at this point. Are they hollow or solid? *dunno* about that one.
