I asked the question about the fix for the intercooler at the SVT Experience and they said they are working on a fix but not out yet. They said that if this is a problem, to take it to the dealer and it will be replaced with an identicle part, and it will likely leak again. From what I've heard, the 2001 will kind of be a test bed for the new intercooler, which should work out, then they are going to do a recall of some sort.

Just had the Elec. pump replaced as it leaked at one of the pipes. And it took them all day because no one has worked on them before well by the next time it will only take half a day.

I don't believe the 2001 intercooler will works with pre-2001 superchargers. (I was looking at Caspers truck as he has the 2001 on it, and the bolt spacing "looked different."

Hey Johnny Lightning.
If you're running a 2001 intercooler the FORD gOD's (yes I typed this right)must be smiling on you. The service part numbers are released and you can look up the parts but you can't buy them yet. If you are thinking of buying the new lower intake, upper intake and intercooler you better pop for the new supercharger too because as Steve just stated the 1999 and 2000 superchargers will not bolt onto this new hardware.
Hey here you go!!! These are the part numbers for the 2001 hardware.
1L3Z-9424-CA Lower Intake
1L3Z-9424-DA Upper Intake
1L3Z-9M436-AA Intercooler
Now all you have to do is wait, unless you're in tight.

I'm REALLY wondering if Jerry got a HOT blower for testing being that he's in the 12's now. What a lucky guy he is. Maybe he can pull some strings and get us locals the same setup on our 2000's.....for testing purposed...you know.

I am currently having one built to replace the factory unit. Call SPEARCO Van Nuys Ca.This will fix the problem they are the largest builder of intercoolers probably in the world for racing applications.

Question

38 top gun
Can you give me some more detailed info on this "SPEARCO" company, eg a phone #. I would also like to get this right. The way Ford is handling this does not inspire confidence...

Top Gun,

I would be interested to know how your performance is with the Spearco intercooler. Dyno #'s would be even better. I would take the offensive and replace the intercooler before it fails if there is a better than stock replacement. What kind of $$$$$ are they charging?

Mike

You would think that there is some aftermarket company out there that would start making a replacment intercooler core. Does anyone know of such a company? Sure, right now warrantys are covering the replacement cost at Ford, but it won't be long till that money will be coming out of our pockets. And what's Ford going to say when you need a new intercooler out of warranty? "Well, that part # has been replaced by an updated version, oh but you have to change the complete blower and intake assembly, $4,000 please."
