A few questions about the Innovate XD-16 / LC-1
Hey fellas. I just bought the Innovate XD-16 / LC-1 kit and plan to install it this weekend. I have a few questions just to make sure everything is in order when I do this...
1. Where did you mount the LC-1 underneath the truck?
2. What power source did you tap into to power the XD-16 and the LC-1? Did you tie them in together or use separate power sources?
3. Did you install a heat-sink for the sensor when you installed it in the exhaust?
4. What size hole should be drilled in the exhaust pipe to accommodate the bung when welding?
I'm sure I'll think of other things as I'm reading the instructions. These are just a few things I can't find answers for.
Also, is there anything special I need to know when installing this kit?
Thanks!

Anyswitched 12V source will work
yes you can tie the two power wires together, just make sure you use a fuse.
Drill a hole just big enough to weld the bung on.
Right after the headers.
The most important thing, is to read the instructions, on how to calibrate the sensor.

What power source would you recommend? I'm already tapped into the radio fuse for the gauges I already have.
I tucked mine in the frame rail under the driver's side door. There's a grommet there that will allow you to run the wires and the datalog cable through it, an dthen you can run the wires in the lower floor trim panel to the fuse box.
My XD-1 is in the steering column pod. As for power and ground, hit up the Innovate forums on the website. They've done some serious research dealing with ground loops and voltage swings. I believe I shared a common ground for the LC-1 and the XD-1, which was recommended. The forums there are lifesavers. Sign up, and ask away. Their head ENgineer is on them all the time answering questions.
Congrats on the purchase, you're going to LOVE it.
Oh yeah, make sure you hit the SCT forums if you have an XCAL2 and search for Innovate or LC-1. You'll find th diagram on how to make the cable that runs from the LC-1 to the XCAL2 so you can log air fuel with the LiveLink software. Pretty slick stuff!
