Couldn't resist
Out for a late night cruise and came up to a 3 lane stop light. As I approached the light I got over into the empty lane in the far right. There were two other trucks sitting there and I thought I might be able to have some fun. When I got close to the light I looked at the truck next to me and it was Syclone. The light changed red before I came to a complete stop and the syclone took off. At this point we weren't racing, I kept up to about his rear bumper. After cruising a little more, he goosed it and started pulling away and then slowed back down. To be honest I hesitated to race him because our speed was approaching 45 mph and also because of the syclones reputation. However, I figured since a syclone is a rare sight I would give it a go; plus I needed back in the far left lane. So I punched it from about 45 mph. I went from being at his rear bumper to being 2 or 3 lengths ahead of him when I slowed to switch over to the far left lane. I kind of figured he wasn't racing me but as soon as I slowed to switch lanes he was right on my bumper in no time. I suppose maybe his turbo didn't have to spool up because it was a short duration race. In any case it was pretty exciting to finally be able to race a syclone and I thought I would share it with everyone.
I hope no one takes this post as a slam on syclones because I have the utmost respect for them and regardless of the results I got tonight, I don't feel a lightning would always triumph over a syclone.

I have the same respect for the Syclones, in fact that is the truck that started me out on my whole "sport truck" craze. I'd own a Lightning and a Syclone if I could afford it.
I had a similar encounter with a Syclone last weekend, but from a dead stop on a slightly damp road, I was no competition in a short hop race. My Lightning was quite a sight though as I smoked the tires through both first and second gears!
We pulled over and had a friendly chat though; really nice driver, and he's paraplegic (sp?) to boot! We've already agreed to take this 'grudge match' to the Woodburn drags sometime, depends on the timing/weather here.

if you get one from a roll you will beat him, if not walk away from him (from a highly "un-modded" one that is). They have all-wheel drive which makes them a terror from a dead stop, not once you get rolling, especially if over 20-30mph. That is why you walked away from him!!!!!!
