Post Big problem with my 2000 L!!!!

Just noticed this last night. The entire back half of my L is about 3/4 of an inch off-center. I first noticed that the ground effects on one side stuck out a little further than the other side, then I looked closer, at the gap between the cab and the bed, and the whole back half of the truck from the front of the bed back is off-center! Oh Sh&t! First thing Monday I'm gonna call the dealership about this. I can't believe it took me this long to see it (I've had the truck for about 6 weeks) but I guess I really wasn't looking for it, since you expect a new car/truck to be perfect! This sucks! It must just be the way they put it together at the factory. I can imagine that getting it fixed will be quite extensive, if it even can be fixed! AAGH! I'll let ya all know what happens with this.

White00L,

Mine was like that too. The dealer gave me confidence when they said "I don't know. We can try to straighten it, but it may become worse." Needless to say, I loosened the 4 bed bolts (Hex Screws), and it took me and a bud about 5 minutes to align it. It looks tremendously better and no worry about the dealer.

Give it a shot...

Thats all it took? Geez, maybe I'll give that a try. It sure as hell scared me when I first noticed it. I've been having all kinds of horrible thoughts, but if it's just the 4 bolts in the bed, maybe I can fix it myself. Looking at it closer today I noticed it's only off by about 1/2 inch or so.

White00L,

My symptoms were identical. After getting the truck, I noticed that the ground effects looked crooked. The pass side was almost rubbing against the cab. After opening my eyes, I saw that the distance from cab to bed was almost 1/4" different between pass & driver side.

We just got each side to equal distance and boom...It looks good.

Its worth the couple minutes....

I see what you are saying, but the distance between cab and bed on mine is the same on both sides. Mine is uneven from side to side, so that if you are looking at the truck from directly behind it, the back half is farther towards the drivers side of the truck. I hope I can still fix it the way you said.
