Keypad install
I just finished the keypad install. This was an easy one hour job. What a nice addition. Thanks for all the info from this fantastic group. Now if I could just figure out how to eliminate the key completely. hmmm

I am jealous. I have had the key pad for more than a month but the handle has been on back of almost two months now. Don't know when it will arrive.
When it does and I start installing, any secrets that you discovered while you were putting it in?

Hi Jim,
The one thing that I had trouble with was how to route the cable in the door so that it would reach to the connector and not be anywhere near the window mechanism parts. I can't figure out how some of the others were able to do this so easily. I know the harness is supposed to be a few inches short but mine seemed to be about 5 inches too short even for the method suggested by ToyMan. I had to really rig the cable and remove the sheathing and cable tie it to the inner door. So, my cable goes from keypad around the window guide immediately in front of the keypad (so now the cable is effectively in front of the window towards the innner door opening)cable tied along the inside of the door skin, stretched to the connector. Bottom line, it's cool, looks good, and works great...

bobb - I thought the same thing about the wiring at first and almost went the route you did but figured out that you need to go on the outside of the window (between the glass and the outer door panel. You need to come off the back of the keypad and go up and across the top to the front of the door. With the glass up, you need to look up at the top of the door there is a track that has some holes drilled in it. That is where the pre-attached pins go. Once you get to the front of the door you can come back to the connector for the keypad.

I thought at first the harness was too short until I remembered about the old posts telling us to look up at the top of the channel for the holes and lo and behold there they were. The only problem was getting that blasted back nut off and back on. Just take your time and use every swivel and extension in your tool box and all the neighbors and friends. Good luck

Thanks for the info.
Can't wait until mine gets here and at the same time a little worried about doing it and you have helped.
Thanks

I reviewed the article and really want to do it for my 2003 F150. I had the keypad on my previous Sport Trac and have already locked my keys in the new vehicle!
Anyway, I called one dealer locally in Dallas and he thought I was a nut....
Do you have any reference material about whether or not the wiring harness is indeed in the new 2003 F150 Supercrew trucks?

Have Remotes and 5 Digit Code
I just verified the code is there and it's just like the Sport Trac I had with the keyless entry.
Why do the dealerships not have clue?
Where else can I go to get this done as I don't want to tear apart my brand new truck!
