Post How much extra $$$ for insurance?

I'm 36 yrs old and married. I checked one insurance company on-line, comparing a 2000 F-150 Extended cab 4x4 (I have a '97 model) vs. a 2000 Lightning. It was about $100 a year more for the Lightning, which is very manageable.

Is this what you guys/gals found out?

Topsy,
Before I got my L I had a 99 F150 SuperCab 4X4 and when I got the L the insurance dropped 60 a month. They said it was due to the fact that the 99 was a 4X4. Hope that helps.

I just called my Ins company yesterday. They quoted 253 every 6 mo. on a 2001 L. They rate it the same as a regular F-150. I'm 35 and married.

I am paying State Farm $700 a year for a 1991 4x4 Dakota and $900 a year for the 1999 Lightning. Just got a $90 refund on the Lightning from State Farm. I think I have to shop though. I am going to try Geico.

I use MetLife, and they don't count the Lightning as anything different than a straight F-150. I'm also 36, Married and my rates for the L, a 2000 Explorer and a 1951 F-1 Pickup are $540 for 6 months, with good driver and homeowners discount. If I make it till November without a clainm I'll get another $50 discount for "super good driver".
The '51 is covered as a "collector Car" with $25,000 Comp/Collision coverage but limited mileage (less than 1000 miles per year)
Call your independent agent.

SVT-Snake, your insurance rate actually dropped going to a Lightning? I got an estimate and it increased $30/month, which is $360/year more for me.
