Need some paint color suggestions
Well guys, wrecked the L last week.
. Now I will start a ground up rebuild. Plans are:
22"s, 2/4 drop, 3.73's, built motor, rollpan, shaker is staying, install the traction bars, ******* speedstur, and a few other odds and ends.
Now our thinking is that we want to paint it something different. A color the L's didn't come in. If we have to paint it why not. We don't really race it, but the Wife loves the shows so we are concentrating on the looks. We like the ghost flames, stripes etc and are open to suggestions there.
Initial thinking has got me looking to a "slate blue". What do you guys think? Any color suggestion is welcome even if it is to stay true to the L colors.
Anyone with some photoshop pics they really like and want to offer it up?

Ive always been a fan of the orignal lightning grey with the ghost flames, but i think if you went a few shades darker with the grey to make it an orignal color would still look sweet. Looks like its gunna be a nice project though, Godd Luck!

Sonic Blue!
The ultimate best color for a lightning. When I was shopping for my truck, I was stuck between the one I have now and a 2004 Sonic Blue lightning... Been regretting it everyday since.
But having a different color from other lightnings would be cool... maybe yellow..

I like the sonic and gray as well, but as a non lightning color how about a very dark gray metallic/graphite, silver frost or Titanium, Porsche Gum ball blue, or a bit more custom how about dark grey metallic with a red center section on the hood, maybe a 2' cowl hood? Good luck,T

Well it's a 73 Sports I bought in 2000 and did a frame up restoration. The problem is I did it on a college budget. The frame was blasted and painted. The 5.0 was rebuilt. I didn't touch the 3 speed but did convert it from the column to the floor. I had the body media blasted and painted, the underside is tarred and the tub is Rhino lined. I put a 4" suspension lift and changed just about every nut, bolt, seal, and emblem. Reupolstered the seats and new fiberglass cowl hood. I powder coated alot and cleaned everything. I slapped some 35X13.50 Mickey Claws onto some 15x10 Eagle wheels and rolled her probably 40K wonderful miles after the build (it feels great getting looks on something I did mostly myself. But it's been sitting the last two years as I was relocated for work. Now that I'm back I had all intentions of finishing where I left off. New FI 5.0, NV4500, power steering, power disc brakes, go through the axles, new wiring, and a few other odds and ends. But now that the L is down she's back on the backburner. I'm sure if I spent a few hours I could get her up and running but it isn't fun driving with drum brakes, no power steering and the 3 speed. One day she'll be "finished". I just need my wife to finish school and help me fund these projects!!

Well it looks pretty nice, I am sure you will get around to the brakes, and steering at some point. Do you ever go to Classicbroncos.com if not go check it out, as it is a great site.
Depending on how you use your Bronco, you might be better off with a NV3550 instead of the NV4500, which is what I am doing. My Toploader 4 speed is starting to make some weird noises. I just got the Advanced adaptor kit, and in the next few weeks I will be installing the NV3550. It is smaller, and fits the Bronco a lot better. A lot of Broncos have this trans and everyone loves it.
I know the feeling of no power drum brakes, no power steering, and a 3 speed. I used to have a 69 set up like that, but with the 3 on the tree.
This is my 3rd Bronco, and so far the nicest one I have had. It is a unrestored survivor. It allready had 456 gears and the toploader in it when I bought it. I have since added Cage springs, Bilstein shocks, and a Ford Racing Crate Motor. I have a 6 point roll cage ready to go in, but the transmission, put that project on hold.
