Level 10 install
Today I got my first mod on the new 2000L (except for filter) and I began with the trans. this is the weak link in the lightnings drivetrain and needed some beefing up. I had Pat over at level 10 transmissons which thankfully is only 2 miles from my home install the hydrosystem valve body recalibration and shift kit. He smiled and said we were going to have some fun today. boy was he ever right! 100% difference over the stock setup. no more of that jerky slushy jumpy wimpy whatever you want to call them shifts anymore. crisp clean strong shifting better describes the bolt now. under light acceleration around town drivability is the same as stock with much cleaner shifts. but when you get into it 2nd and 3rd gears shifts are like being shot out of a cannon. real strong and hard but in no way offensive at all. thanks pat. possibly thinking of doing the Billet torque converter somewhere down the line. but next up will be computer and rear gear upgrades.just LOVE this truck! later 95rcobra
99 SVT BOLT, Level Ten did the install with parts and labor for $575. It took 3 hours to do the job. if someome did it themselves I believe it was around $350-375 for system. Billet torque converter is $775 installed. not sure on length of time for that install. check their site at www.levelten.com

I would like to know if there is a difference between what a chip will do and the kits.
I had ordered the Transgo kit and cancelled because I didn't think that there would be that much of a difference between the kit and a chip to create a warranty problem. A chip installation can be hidden from a dealership (by taking it out) but a kit's installation is very noticeable even after taking it out.
Am I wrong in this area? And is there a difference?

Blue Blood,
Ford Sales,
That has to to the one PSP sells for 150.00
In my opinion, most bang for the buck after chip and filter. 2 hrs @50.00 plus Transmission Fluid should be in the ballpark for cost.

What is it I don't understand here?
SHIFT KIT
1. Increses fluid pressure to reduce clutch slippage.
2. Does nothing to change fact that 4 cylinders drop out at shift.
3. Does nothing about flat performance above 70 even at WOT.
4. Voids transmission warranty.
CHIP
1. Increases fluid pressure to ruduce clutch slippage.
2. Eliminates cylinder droupout at shift.
3. Greatly improves performance at all speeds whether at WOT or not.
4. Does not void transmission warranty.

I understand what all of you guys are saying but why on PSP site is he selling the level 10 billet torque converter for $795 for just the part when I can have the same converter installed at level 10 with parts and labor for $779. I will find out on monday what the story is and report back.

I might be a little slow , so bear with me . I would like to know why use the kit? What is the benifit? My first chip burn wouldn't allow downshifts(1st gear) above 20 mph, but the latest reburn just flat out kicks ***! It downshifts to 1st at over 35mph and shifts like you are getting catapulted forward! Anyone?

Noel,
I have a 99. I just had my chip reprogramed about 3 weeks ago. I had a bad switch and had it out for a long time. I was going thru stuff with the dealer that would take me to long to type(can't type good enough to vent here)!I walked in with it and walked out with a new one in 30 min. I got the performance street and race. I think Sandy(skydive69) has one even newer than mine. My idle is a littele high in st. mode so I am going to wait for Sandy's test results before I go back. I don't remember what they wrote on the chip for their code. I will let you know when I return what they do. This is much better than the original from January.

No offence, But you got RIPPRED OFF, If you actually paid that much. I paid 150 from PSP, had it installed in a couple of hours...very simple install. I would go back and find out exactly why it cost so much....You could even purchace the complete valvebody for less from Performance Automatic in Maryland. This way, the swap back to stock could not be any simpler, simply swap out one for the other. IMO

Maybe it's jst me but $575.00 sound like an awful lot of money for a shift kit!! The last shift kit I did cost about $40.00 and took about 45 minutes to install. You got to love modern technology! Lloyd
Spiro99svt, no offense taken but let me explain the difference between my work and what you guys are getting with the shift kit from psp. just got off the phone with pat at level10 and he says what you buy at psp is just a parts kit and when it is installed it is only about 80% effective on the improvements to the trans. when the job is done at level 10 he is able to analyze and benchtest the valve body.he can set it up so it performs at 100% effectiveness. he compares the kit from psp as just like buying a generic shift kit. so you might think I got ripped off but I see it as a great improvement over everyones generic setup. dont take my word call pat at level 10 973-827-1000 and he will explain it to anyone.
