Brand, brand new Superchip!!!
First of all thanks to Mike Troyer, national distributor of Superchips who is always immediately available to expertly answer any questions. Hearing about the new Superchip program, I telephoned Mike on Monday. He immediately arranged for me to get a factory update to the new program. I showed up at the factory this morning, and was informed that they had just finished development of a program which they thought was going to be super (no pun intended). They asked if I would be the experimental truck. After some final programming, the new chip (called the R9 program - current newest that most of you have is the BTS2) was intalled. I went for a test drive with Superchip engineer Jay Payson, and all I can say is I am effing thrilled to death. The new program is an extensive re-tune, plus shift pattern mod. Unbelievable shifts, power, and will no longer get caught in second gear necessitating a "catch up" race.
Tom (Blueblood), my chip was installed with the new R9 and the recent latest on the two sides. I'm going to drive the new one for a week, revert to your program for a week, and report back to Jay at engineering. What a difference! An expert box boy could never dream of making speed shifts that would compare with this baby.
See you killer fodder on the road!

Sandy,
The chip I have is CUX1TRAC. The shifts are great. I am going there next wee because my idle is a little high. I am thrilled with the performance from the program I have. Keep me informed, I might wait for your results before I go up there.

I can't wait until I get mine back. I'm jazzed (I hope the last word doesn't date me???)

Nice hearing the good news. I also have the CUX1TRAC program and my idle is too high when I'm in the street program. I also have one of those trannies that will NOT shift into 1st at speeds over 25. Maybe Superchips has an answer for that problem. Thanks for the info....Jeff
Removing my post so I don't look quite so dumb.

Are you using the R9 program for daily driving? I currently have the RPM on one side for daily driving and the Trac on the other for the drags. If I got a reburn, which side would I upgrade?
Thanks...Alex

Hi Alex:
Yes, the R9 is my daily driver. As I understand it from Jay, the engineer, their are actually two trac programs. One considered a high performance street program (like Blueblood is currently running), and the other trac program is optimized for the drags with the requirement of 100 octane fuel. There was an additional designation to that program that begins with an "h" (I presume designating high octane). The new program is considered the replacement for the trac program, with extensive differences in the tuning.
The L has really gotten the attention of Superchips lately. A guy is showing up there on Saturday, coming down from PA who has run a 12.86. They are going to play with his truck, and do some more tuning. Jay, the engineer is fairly new with the company, and loves Lightnings. I think we who have Superchips are going to be seeing some wonderful benefits, and so will others that will of course be copying (as so often happens) Superchips engineering.
Tom:
As best as I can interpolate my tach, I am running 510 rpm at idle with the new program.
Collin:
Although the shifts are firmer then they were at light throttle driving, they are no where as abrupt as you describe them. I will be asking Jay if there is a way to make very light shifts at light throttle without losing the incredible shifting it now does at WOT. I am simply astounded at the difference. I can't wait for some clown to try me at the lower speeds where I found myself stuck in second. Now I lay down a patch, and kick absolute a$$!!

I don't know how new Jay is to the company, but I have been dealing with him for at least 5-6 months. I guess you can call that new, but not to the point of making sudden changes for the L. When I stopped by there in July, he was so occupied, he couldn't come out to meet me. Maybe it's just me....
