Question What is an "S Port"

Everyone,

In some idle chat, it was brought to my attention that magnuson can "S Port" the M90 for the pontiacs and others. Apparently this can yield some noticable gains.

Anyone know if the 112 can be S-Ported??

Also, there was mention of just porting the intake tract of the M90 to add about 10hp at the higher end.

Sounds reasonable....whos got the $$

Brian,

I have never heard of "S Porting". What I think could be done is Extrude Hone the input area and the output side of the M112. Needless to say being "smooth" will allow air to flow better.

If you are not aware of what Extrude Honing is(I'm not trying to insult your intellengents), it is where a clay like material is forced through opening such as lower intake for example. This will produce a very smooth finish almost like glass. Better air flow...

Any time you can "smooth" up the air flow coming in or going out (freer breathing engine) it all helps in the horsepower area.

Wow! What a lead.

Magnuson Products (805 642-8833) does the Eaton Supercharger work for Ram Air Technology. Magnuson's sister company, MagnaCharger (805 289-0044), may be developing a Lightning application. I have a call into them for more information.

Check it out:

I have been talking to them since March, they have not developed any M112/Lightning parts or porting geometry yet. It looks like they may be doing some in the near future, but for now it is not happening.

Steven

P.S. I was wondering how long it would take for people to look and see what the GTP guys do...

I spoke with Chris at MagnaCharger. He said they upgrade the Eaton 90's from Gen 3 to Gen 4 for Pontiacs and such. The Eaton 112 we have is already a Gen 4 design. They are looking at porting and pulleys, but haven't developed a product for Lightnings as yet.
