Letter to Sport Truck editor
Everyone,
Here is a letter I sent to the editor:
"Thanks for the unbiased article in your october issue. <<-Read sarcasm>> I
am sure the 99 Lightning deserved those low marks ,,-Read even more
Sarcasm>> Just for the record my 99 with just aftermarket intake and
Superchip ran a 13.76 @ 99.59. The only truck I have seen in the 14's is a
completely stock.
Lets see, I should do a magazine comparison:
Truck Trend Sport Truck 4x4 offroad
Content 2 3 1
Size 1 3 2
Craftsmanship 3 1 2
Totals: 6 7 5
But since I weighted craftsmanship x 4, Sport Truck obviously loses!!!
TT=15, 4x4=11, ST=10
I guess that chevy doesn't line the pockets of Sport Truck <<--Even MORE

Maybe next month, you can do a 4x4 V10 comparison and include the
lightning...."
And the response:
"Well you obviously did not get the point of the story, maybe you should re-read it. The competition was not comparing new trucks, it was comparing modified trucks and the owner of that truck completely screwed up any qualities that Ford built into it. It handled much worse that a stock one and was not as fast. It had a factory paint job where as the other ones had all been treated to custom paint jobs. In all rights that truck should not have been included but because we are always desperate to find nice modified Fords we had to settle for that one just to try and make you Ford guys somewhat happy which is impossible."
I guess we are impossible...
