Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit

Will somebody help me out cause I'm a little slow?:o
Is there any reason why this kit from Summit will not be just a good as the Timsert? ~$35 versus $450. The Summit kit uses inserts not helicoils.

Here is the info on the Timsert kit:

Time-Set Kits are $450? Last I saw they were under $200. Get another price check. I would also try to locate a forum member and borrow a kit and order some inserts.

I haven't found a $200 price. Never the less $35 vs. $200, any reason to pay $200?

The reason to pay $200 is that Time-Serts Kits have proven to be a solid fix, dependable, durable, and endorsed by Shorty. J/K.
Time-Serts have been around and they work very good for the L. If you want to go cheaper then be prepared to "Get what you paid for." Honestly, get the Time-Serts, fix the truck, move on in life. Lastly, there are probably lot's of L owners in your vicintiy who would let you borrow their insert kit. Recommend making a separate post requesting loan of a Time-Sert Installation kit. Where are you at?

You Get What You Pay For!

Shorty, I second your opinion. When my '99 Expedition blew a spark plug, I knew I had a few options.

I quickly realized that Time-Sert was the only economical and practical permanent repair option.

I have been driving on my threaded insert for two year now!
