If you didn't have the vibration before the gear change, you shouldn't have it now. Your driveshaft is turning a little faster at a given speed but not any faster overall. More likely it was either damaged during the gear change(they had to remove and re-install it), or the problem may be able to be corrected by indexing the driveshaft 90, 180, or 270 degrees relative from where it is currently attached at the rear yoke. Try that first, you may have to try several positions before you find the one that works right. It costs you nothing to try this but a little time. While you're under the truck, inspect the driveshaft for signs of obvious damage.

Good Luck,

Lightning Bob

I also want to point out. i have done a lot of drive shafts and rear ends. Most Fords require indexing the drive shaft on the lightning it can be installed 4 ways. 3 are the wrong way one is the right. Since they are balanced within 20 grams. some times they are marked with blue or yellow dots. Let me know if it helps. If you pull out the shaft out of the tail see where the line or index marks are. I had a lot of trouble with my 99 cobra I had. I worked with ford and engineers on solving the fix on it and they still messed it up. thats why I got rid of the car.

Red face 2K L Driveshaft Vibration

My 2K has 4:10 gears now and right after the gear change a vibration in the driveshaft showed up. The gear shop says the extra RPM resulting from the gear change will bring out any imperfections in balancing.
Anyone who has had this problem?
How to fix it?
Difficulty here is that nobody in Houston balances a driveshaft over 60 mph. I know that's hard to believe, but if you want higher speeds guess you have to send it away for high speed balancing.
Why do all these places seem to be in California???
Thanks in advance for your help with this problem! I'm leaving now to take the truck to a local SVT dealer to see what they say.
Most likely that will result in replacement of the driveshaft.
Anyone know what speed the original driveshaft is balanced at by Ford???
