harmful upper pulley?
harmful upper pulley?
will an upper pulley like a 2.81 for the supercharger hurt your engine? blow it up? combined with a 4lb lower
does it create more harmful heat? any advice would be great. it would be combined with an idler system to add that extra loop to wrap it tight

Do you already have the 8.5" lower? The ratio of a 8.5/2.8 = 3.04 Just the 4lb lower is 8.5/2.93 = 2.90, what we call a 6lber is 9/2.93 = 3.07, what we call a 5lber is 8.75/2.93 = 2.99 Sooooo... it's a good increase when combined with the 4lb lower and NO belt slip. There have been people blow motors with 6lbers so Make sure you do all your supporting mods and datalog!!!
I have all intentions of putting a 2.8 upper and 8.5 lower on my all stock L with a 90 mm MAF once the Wideband gets here. I think it's a little more than the 4lb lower but not quite the 6lber so I feel a wee bit safer.

Brahmus
i am installing a 4lb lower this weekend
i wanted to do the upper pulley around a 2.80 with an idler set to give it that no slip. where are you getting your wide band from?
i am still trying to learn

I ordered an Innovative LM-1 from Mike Dunn at Madenterprise.com. I thought about the LC-1/xd16 but I will need to use it in several vehicles and the LM-1 makes it easier.
I would suggest a GOOD dyno tune.. or atleast datalog after the install and which ever tune you have to run it. You will need some tweaking to be safe and gain full potential.

be safe...
I ran 16 psi on a nonported eaton for about a year. Never burned a plug or had any problems. The bottom line is that the tune was good. I ran the truck almost every weekend. THEN, I sent it off and had a stage IV Steig port on my once stock eaton.....Sent off for a new tune from a different tuner and blew it up 2 weeks later. My fault really, wasnt watching my A/F at the time and had never datalogged. I really didnt have any idea how healthy the engine was or wasnt. Do it right and get yourself a Dyno and wideband...you'll be ok.

The LM1 is portable, I will need it for several vehicles. Otherwise I'd have gone with the LC-1 and XD-16 Gage with a more permanent install.

you want to add a smaller upper pulley that has a much smaller contact surface for the belt, to prevent belt slip?
Those Reinhardt upper pulley's have been known to EAT belts.
Our RPM's change drastically when te tranny shifts, there needs to be a little slip on the s/c belt.
Personally, I think that is why SAL was having problems when he ran the F1R S/C. He had a cogged setup that allowed ZERO belt slip. So he kept eating belts. Just my personal opinion though.

Quicksvt what do you have done to your truck to get a 11.02?
and thanks everyone. the opinions are at opposite ends of the spectrum. it seems obviously i will need a good tune. still havent decided on the s/c pulley.
