Thumbs up Holy Boost Batman!!!!

I've been playing around with a PSP single position chip and just received the SHM Chip and MAF.

Have been very pleased with the PSP chip and have seen about a 0.4 second improvement on the old G-Tech Pro. Haven't been to the track recently.

Back to the SHM product. Boy was I disappointed with the included hardware. ie. none. You are required to purchase a 1/4" bolt to mount the unit. Not a big deal. The ACT sensor didn't fit in the end of the filter. Had to file that out. Quick way to get filings in the filter. And it comes with two 4" wires, stripped at both ends, to lengthen the ACT sensor wire. Nothing else.

The chip came in an envelope with a 1/4"x2 strip of scouring pad. No instructions, no nothing.

I guess what they're saying is "No First Timers Please!"

Anyway, as I was saying, the PSP chip was working very well. Firm, crisp shifts at WOT, and 2-3 gear changes in the 5200-5300 rpm range. Once I got some 94 octane fuel, my pinging problems went away. The only issue I have with it is the shifting can be a little intrusive at part throttle.

Now for the SHM stuff. Fire it up and let her honk. 1-2 shift comes a little early. No bang, no shudder. It just shifts. Like stock only without the fuel injector cutoff. 2-3 shift at about 4900-5000 rpm. Again, same type of shift. Not really impressed, but hey, my seat-o-the-pants meter is not terribly sensitive. Have to see at the track.

Driving to work this morning, figure I'll play a little more. Foot to floor. Hold on now. I look a the boost guage. The needle has swung past the ten and is out in the black section. WOW If you don't remember how much that is, it's easily a 12. Holy *****. Got to be the MAF. Almost scary to see something swing off the Richter scale.

I guess what I'm saying is: Get a MAF. This is one of the ProM plastic units. Got to like it.
