Arrow Regarding a group buy for FLOOR MATS

I have an appointment with a mat manufacturer Wednesday afternoon to look over their quality. I will have my mats there for them to look at and to give us a group buy price.

I will discuss with them our logo, quality, colors, etc., etc.

This is a major manufacturer and I know that they will only run a minimum. The number I will let you know, possibly 40-50 minimum.

I will get back to you with all the info. that was discussed. And we'll see if everone wants to order.

I appreciate and applaud your efforts, but in order to get 40-50 orders I think we will need to spend a little time in agreeing on a logo. We will need some imput for some of our more creative members. It is illegal to use the official Ford "SVT LIGHTNING" logo without written permission and quite frankly I think with a little work and compromise we can come up with a better looking logo anyway. If we spend the extra time and allow input I think we can get the required number of orders. The most important option, I think, if available is the ability to do the logo in different colors to match the trucks. Maybe I'm wrong but I think this may be important to getting a lot of orders. This is important to ask the manufacture if they will do this assuming its limited to 3 or 4 colors. Also will diffenent mat colors be available. If not we would probably all choose gray.

Question

I'm not a lawyer, but I think if you put the little tm next to the logo it's ok. The tm show's acknowledgement of the trade mark.

I agree with all that you say regarding colors, etc., etc. I will go over everything with the manuf. and see what they can do for us. They may not need that many orders.

I'll check with SVT regarding the logo. Maybe they can give me some input.

Look forward to your report tomorrow. Putting tm only allows you to use their name in print. Lionel Corp owns the rights to both Lionel and American Flyer and many people make repo parts. If the parts say Lionel or American Flyer they are told to stop immediately or pay a royalty by their attorneys. You cannot produce a product with their trademarked or copywrited logo without a written aggrement. We can probably come up with a better one simply by exploring a different font. I just bought a new cd with thousands of fonts, I will experiment.

I was with the manufacturer today and got a lot of info. and some prices but the owner said he will get back to me tomorrow (Thursday) with the break-down on our cost in relationship to different amounts of mats purchased.

So, tomorrow I will establish a new thread with all the info. and costs.

Jim,
I was looking at our factory mats and they are really cheap junk. The edges are cut and not bound and the quality of the material is sure cheap. Hopefully the samples you see will be better than what we got from Ford. I've bought better replacement mats at Target than what came in our trucks.
