Post Silver Lightning @ Pyle Bros.

Was there anyone from the board getting a gear installed at Pyle Bros. this past Friday. I was coming in from College Station and saw a Silver Lightning on the rack there.

Also to Duck and the other guys up there in College Station, that's one place not to race I'll tell you that. I got busted for running a Red Vette in front of the Hilton on University Drive. The cop asked "you know why I stopped you?" I said "because I won?" he says "no the looser got stopped too". He was amazed I beat the Vette and said "I have never seen a truck move like that, what's in this thing?" I say "its stock". He says "I have a 4.6 Triton it don't run that good". Very Nice guy but that didn't stop him from being Johnny Law, he still gave me a ticket.

Wasn't me at Pyle Bros., but I will tell all you in the Houston area that if you want high quality rear-end work done and can swing the drive to Baytown, Pyle Bros is outstanding.

I have one of their built and prepped, 8.8" rears in my 3400lb 5.0...well over 200 passes on slicks and they've all been with over 500hp/tq to the wheels. All I've done to it over the past 6 years is change the fluid. It can't be an easy life for that rear end, but it sure has held up. I live 350 miles from them and had them do the work when I was down there for a Fun Ford Weekend event years ago.

So, whoever that was who was getting them to install some gears (I'm assuming that's what they'd be doing)...you made a wise choice as far as shops go.

OOPS! Should have warned you. The cops here are EVERYWHERE! I see at least one every time I get in my truck...no joke. Their favorite hobby is busting college kids, probably because we don't carry guns or fight back. Oh well, how much and what for?

Have a feeling it might be Mega_Zap (James Mason). He has been asking around about a 4:10 gear swap and that is the direction we pointed him in.

Contest of speed @ the tune of $160.00, and you don't see just one everytime you drive, you one at every light if not 2. I was packing, and he was totally cool about the whole deal. That Place is loaded with lil Johnny's. And the bad part is I knew it, I just can't resist blowing away a Chevy.

Yep - twas me at Pyles. $568 to get the 4:10's installed and now I have a scary vibration and noise above 90. I have no other experience with Pyles, so....
Just hope its a quick fix and I don't have to wait another 3 hours!

Houston Ring and Pinion was $82 higher, but I gotta tell say this doesn't seem like any bargain now, and its messing up my vacation plans. Nothing like this ever happens when you have spare time!
