What is the widest tire size that will fit on the stock rear rims?
Hey Jeff,
Since the wheel is only 9.5" wide, I'd be leery about running something wider than a 295 like what is on the truck to begin with.
I run 315s on my '96 Cobra, but the rims in the rear on that car are 11" wide.

Wonder how tall those tires are. Must have a pretty darn flexible sidewall to squeeze something that wide on there. So, I'd imagine they are taller than the stock L tire.
In the world of performance cars where handling is critical, no one would recommend that wide a tire on such a narrow rim.
Bulging sidewalls do nothing for handling, and if taken to the extreme you have a much greater chance for a blowout b/c you'll damage the beads.

Exactly. A 305/55-18 is ~31.20" tall. That's very tall compared to our 295/45 tires which are 28.45" tall. You'd get a _slightly_ wider tire, but would sacrifice actual gear ratio by going to a taller tire. That would stink.
