new bling for the L.

All of this talk about new wheels has me wanting some new bling for the L.

Looking at some chrome 20's, but I have a few questions about the width. Most of them that I like are 20x8.5 and a few are 20x9.

I would love to keep the 295 width that I have on my stock rims on the 20" rims. Can I run 295's with an 8.5" rim, or should I get 9"?

Another question I have is fitment......here are some of the wheels that I am looking at and need to know if any of you have ever had these or had any trouble with clearance with these...

I like these a lot..

Thanks for any input...

Mike

I like the first one and the last one in your post....the last one will be tougher to keep as clean with those tiny hole details, but both look tough, fast, classy, and SHINY!

Shelpdogg,

I like the top ones the best, the others really dont float my boat. as for tires you should have at least a 10 inch wide wheel to run a 295/40-20 tire which is the best size tire to use. so in effect none of those wheels will cut the mustard......have you looked at Boze Alloys regular line of wheels many of them are available in 20x10 sizes. if not I have been running 275/40-20 on my front 20x9.5's and they are fine....and keep an almost identical diamater to the stock wheels with 295/45-18.

I love the first ones in your post, IMO they would "flow" very seamlessly with the look of the L.
I think that rim was the the "rim of the month" or something in last month's Truckin' mag.

Just my $.02

Yes, you definately can run the 295's on an 8.5 inch wheel with no problem. You do not need a 10 inch wide wheel (BTW the L's wheels are not 10 inch) Years ago I had an old tire guy that ran 3 tire shops all his life, show me how you can fit a 11 inch wide tire on a 7.5 inch wheel and drive it around for as long as you desired. This was an extreme case, but he did prove his point. It imposes no danger going with an inch less width, it just pulls the sidewall in a bit more.

Very bad idea.......

a 295/45-18 has more sidewall than a 295/40-20 hence you can run it on a 9.5 wheel. the sidewall dictates the rim width range to an extent

the tire company's put out the minimum and maximum rim widths for a reason, they are the boundries of what is SAFE.....you can run whatever tire you want on whatever width wheel you choose to but the companies who made your wheels, tires, and mounted them will wash their hands of you if anything ever happens and you cry lawsuit.....

BTW you can run a 295/45-20 on a 9.5 wide wheel but the overall diameter is a bit too big and you will lose acceleration and throw off your speedo.
