Thumbs down Blew up my Stang's engine..........

Put the SVO M112 blower on it last month. Had it on a dyno wendsday getting it tuned with new MAF and it died after making 310rwhp and 350rwtq (corrected) with a 10# pulley (3.4" pulley). Drove it home from LA, 130 miles thinking it was a vacuum leak, it had a blown intake gasket as well but the real damage was to this #1 cylinder piston. The cylinder is fine.

Guess where a portion of this went?
Get this, it went back through the blower and into the #8 cylinder and lodged between the intake valve and valve seat. WTF??? Yep it happened.

If your not familiar with the cylinder #'s on the 4.6L mustang, #1 is pax side front and #8 is drivers side rear. Total oppisite ends of the engine.

Stock pistons, not forged.

Non-intercooled. the intake and blower housing are cast in one unit. Then the rotors (screws) are installed and the front cover goes one. Lot different than our huffers in terms of design but same internals blower setup.

Also do you have any pics of your engine bay?

>>>> Engine bay minus heads, intake and front accesories. Looks like a 460 would fit in there

>>>>> Blower from the side. The whole unit is one casting (blower housing, plenium, and runners) except where the rotors are bolted in on the front of the snout.

Sorry about your engine.

My wife would be some pissed if I rested heavy engine parts on the washing machine. Different strokes for different folks.

Sorry to here the bad news, So what are you going to do now with your Stang engine! I was hopeing you would bring it out to the track! I wanted to see that baby run. By the way, Im going up to LA to pick up some 100 octane gas in 5 gal cans. I'll pick you up a can for the next track event. I talked to the raceing fuel guy that makes it, he says its more like 101-102 octane unleaded.

In the DOHC 4.6 supposedly #7 has problems b/c of the way the intake is designed...I don't know the specifics, but from my understanding airflow to that cylinder is greater than the others and therefore it runs a bit lean when adding forced induction of any type.

I've had a small shot of nitrous on my Cobra for 2 years now with no issues at all. Then again, I don't use it _that_ often.

Burninout101 4.6L SOHC stangs toss any cylinder they feel like. Mine let loose on #1 and put a piece of the #1 piston in the #8 cylinder, go figure. Most wont live with boost very long but when your 70-100rwhp behind your GM counteparts, you gotta do something. FORD - You listening?? Anyway, get boost or NOS or come in second with like model cars. Plain and simple, handling and power need improvement on the Stang.

What04 The wife wants a new washer anyway so why not Its cheaper than what It's going to cost me to fix my stang.

Dave Got two 5 gallon jugs for ya. Drop me a line before you go.

Thats too bad about your engine Red2000SVT, but where Ford is at the bottom of the food chain, they are at the top of another, the Lightning!

The onlydifference is the fact that mustang drivers know their cars are slower from the get go.

Red- I'll call you tonight for the cans. Will probably make the Gas run tonight to LA.
Might go to Carlsbad to work on those 60 foot times.
