Clunk Report II
After a day of phone calls and general agravation, the service dept. at Tallahassee Ford decided it was best to wait until Ford put out the word about how to fix this problem. ETA on that fix should be within a month. So basically all I got accomplished yesterday was to get on record that if the tire continued to wear as it has started, they would be replacing it when this TSB comes out. I wish I had access to a Ford dealer like one post said who went ahead and fixed the problem right by replacing the arms and putting in the cam bolt kit but not many SVT dealers around this area within respectable driving distance.
So I wait and listen to the clunk. After they get your money, you are not nearly as important to them.
I guess this is why I try and trade every year, to avoid service departments.

Actually, the execrable quality of work at most service departments is puzzling to me, since a dealership should make more money on the back end than they do in the sales department. After all, how often do you buy a car as opposed to getting it serviced? I would think they would go out of their way to cultivate your repeat business. Maybe the competent mechanics all leave and open up their own shops; at least I always seem to wind up going to an independent shop for service.
