Spare Tire

This is a really stupid question, but how do you get the spare tire down from under the bed? I used the tire iron that comes in the truck, but it's not long enough to reach through the hole in the back bumper. Any one else have this problem, or am I just doing it wrong?

Mine been out for so long I don't remember the last time I used it but I believe the if you open the hood there is a long rod that you remove to get to the winch throught the bumper and you just crank it down.

Bout a three foot long rod under your hood. My '02 also has a socket lookin key that has to go on to unlock the tire as well.

Ahhh... ok. I thought that was just for the jack. Cool, thanks. I only have one socket looking thing, and that's the lug nut key... does that work as the spare tire lock too?

Nope, sure doesn't. There is another "key" it's longer and skinnier than the lugnut one.

Should be a a small plastic bag with your jack kit.
It's about 3 inches long x 1/2 inch round.
Clips onto your long handle and then connects with the lowering winch.
Kinda anti-theft device like your lug nut locker

Read the manual it's in there somewhere - good lick.

not all trucks had the lock, 02-04 did I THINK, just try the jack handle and it the winch works you don't need the key.
