Post Deflector Survey

I am debating putting a bug deflector on the front of my hood, and wonder what owners think of the looks of the L with said deflector. Thanks for your input. Also, any preference as to make/model?

Get a Weather Tech or Lund. Paint it the same color as your vehicle. Decide if you would rather repaint the front of the hood from time to time or replace windshields more often. These shields direct rocks directly toward your windshield! In my opinion, only a black shield on a black truck looks OK. (Of course, I have a black truck )

Here is a picture of some with and some without a deflector.

And, here's mine!

Good luck,

Sandy,
I saw a red one in St Cloud yesterday and I would have to say no. I also have had them on other trucks and they do as much damage as they prevent.

I bought a deflector for my truck and am sorely disappointed with it. It looks ok on the truck, but the damage it has created is worse that what it may have prevented.

My deflector rubs on the nose trim that goes around the grill and headlights.
Granted, it is only visible when the hood is up, but it will need to be repainted because of the abrasion.

Because the deflector takes up the gap between the hood and the nose piece, the hood is more difficult to close now. I have adjusted the latch and the hood bump stops to try to minimize the abrasion while maintaining the gaps, but it is still doing it.

My truck is black with a smoke deflector on it and a SVT emblem on the right side corner.

LightningKid: Get some rubber stoppers like on the inside of your kitchen cabinets and place them strategically on places where it rubs. Hardware or WalMart has them.

Mines almost invisable. I love it. Who care if it rubs under the hood. You can't see. Get a life.

noelvm,
Is the bug deflector an APS Bug Deflector II?
Can you clean behind it? Does it touch the hood?

I'll go first. A BIG thumbs down to deflectors. If you need them go for it. If they're for looks, well...

Just my humble opinion.

Wink

Noelvm, is there some reason you feel the need to tell me to get a life? I have a life, thank you very much!

At no time did I say any thing bad about YOUR choice, frankly, I am thrilled that you like your deflector as much as yo do

My comments were directed to Skydive69 and clontek not you.

This is just the type of kiddie crap that makes me think twice about contributing here! (LS1 here we come!)

4D THNDR, thanks for the tip!
I had thought about doing that but there is not enough room.
It would actually make hood sit even higher than it should. I'll see what happens though
