I have the Bassani catback as well as the Dynatech long tubes and mid pipes, and I have to say I wouldnt have it any other way. The Bassani has such a distinct sound, its not too loud during idle but at WOT its heaven. It just has such a Bad@ss sound to it. The only problem you might have is clearance issues if you plan to run traction bars. I recently bought 58" traction bars and I'm praying that they will fit. But with the Bassani you will love going through tunnels.

Flowmaster on an L isn't that good. I'd suggest Bassani, Magnaflow, or Mac Cat back. I have the dynatech Longtubes and midpipes but not sure about the cat back.

i am now on my 5th cat back. first i had the mac, not really a pleaser, but that was back in 02 when i first got the truck. their addvertisement said something like more flow than you will ever need and on a truck with no mods it lost power.second were a pair of spin-techs...not bad, nice and small but a little to raspy ,then again i never got to put tails on them, only dumps. i think with tails they would do nicely. third and i think my favorite were a recycled pair of flows out of my buddies old american thunder system for a 5.0 . this set up i think sounded the best. it had a serious note to it ,very aggressive, but then a baffle let go and was rattling to much. fourth was a pair of dynomax bullets with a pair of motorcycle high flow baffles inserted to contol some of the raspyness and it worked well. this system was loud . last but not least is a jdm silver bullet system. it is a work of art and all stainless but at wot you get that rasp. it's a keeper though because it fits well and it cost so god damn much. all the other systems i had were home made jobs incorporating an x-pipe, except for the mac. also they were all ran with jdm Lt's and high flow mid pipe, except for the mac. i would maybe get a pair of series 40 mufflers and have an exhaust shop fab up the rest of the system for ya. everybody bases their opinion on the pre-fab cat back flowmaster sells(which i agree sounds a bit too whooshy, pretty much like the mac will as well, a charecteristic of a single muffler)but if you do it this way i'm sure you will be pleased. sorry to be so long winded but i hope this helps

Exhaust

I've got JBA shorties, Magnaflow High Flow Cat mid-pipes and a Magnaflow cat-back. Wouldn't have it any other way. Not too loud, but you can hear me coming and going. A good healthy sound.

I had a pair or 40's.. The worst sound of all my setups. Way to much drone and had a "flap in the wind" sound. Maybe on a N/A setup but something about the blower throws off the tone IMO. I think a magnaflow or bassani setup would be your best bet.
